Chrysler says that its 2009 Town & Country and Dodge Caravan minivans with the top-level 4.0 liter V6 have received a few modifications that improve their fuel economy 8 percent to 17 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. The 2008 models achieved 16 around town and 23 on the road. Chrysler claims that the improvements give them best-in-class fuel economy.
Chrysler modified the vans’ six-speed automatic to provide shorter steps between ratios to decrease the change in engine speed between shifts. Power is down just a touch – now 251 horsepower, whereas the 2008 had 253 horsepower.
