Have any one ever think that even the Chevolet Aveo only gotten a 1 1/2 star from NCAP?
And how safe a car is, really depends on how good ur driving?

Crashing at 90 mph definitely kills ya?

If Chrysler LLC wants to import these little buggers into the U.S. to have something to offer in the subcompact segment, fine (I guess). However, I wish they wouldn't label them as Dodge products. I think this product will severely dilute the brand image of the Dodge division. I would rather see this product offered as part of a Chery distribution deal within Dodge showrooms, instead of the product actually being badged as a Dodge.

I just really feel that our market is over saturated. Some might say that having so many choices is good, but I don't necessarily think so. One draw back for instance is people going out and financing a brand new China mobile, accent, yaris, aveo, rio, suzuki, scion, rather than buying a decent used car. This causes over saturation of used cars on lots, making it so you'll recieve O dollars for your trade in. So good luck figuring out what to do with your old car, hopefully you have something people really want. Also, what's the resale value of the pieces, you can buy a 07 aveo with 10k for probably 6 thousand. I'd venture to say the original owner gets shafted pretty good. I have no problem with small cars, but I'd like to see them actually be built well, maybe maintain their value a bit. ( take the Fit for instance ) These little pieces of junk are just a nuisance.

Veda: you're right, but if these cars are of low quality, Chrysler will be a loser in the long term.

Ok, trashing talking is certainly fun, but have ANY of you test driven a U.S. or at least Mexican bound A1 yet? I am pretty sure the answer to that question is no. Car manufactured for other markets are equipped differently due to different safety standard. This car still has to comply with the U.S. safety standard, which is pretty strict.

Whatever video out there is crap as far as I care. The car that makes it here may be much improved than the one used in the video. Fender folded up like an umbrella? Isn't that what CRUMPLE ZONES are designed to do so YOU don't take the impact? Geez people. If you don't like it, don't buy it. But it is irresponsible to foreclose on the possibility of a good and inexpensive Chinese made car this early on. Ok the possibility is slim, but can we at least give it the benefit of the doubt until one hits a U.S. street?

Seriously, from a business standpoint if Chrysler can pull it off and make easy $ by a simple rebadging then more power to them. If I'm in their position I'd do the same thing and don't give a rats ass about a bunch of whiners in sites like this. At the end of the day it's all business...

I am not convinced that the car will sell and will be success. There were plethora of inexpensive cars on sale in US and they are gone. The smallish list include: FIAT, Alfa Romeo. Lancia (all were independent companies not owned by FIAT when they were on sale here), Peugeot/Citroen (each had its own dealer franchise albeit Peugeot owned Citroen for a while), Renault, Morris, Austin, Rover, Simca and lastly Yugo.
All of them failed because they could not withstand the rigor of driving long distances. I don't know if this specimen will manage where other failed, Chrysler will be slapping its badge on it, but Renault Fuego sold here with Chrysler badge was far from successful.

Ya know, I hate to say it, but why not? I applaud Chrysler for taking the chance. The curiosity factor alone will sell a few boatloads and, really, how bad can these things be? Let's face it, trying to pawn off a small car on par with a Daewoo isn't exactly reaching for the stars.

I stand corrected, I think.

What do arguing online and competing in the special Olympics have in common?

Now I finally know what a real joke you really are. What was you highest level of education? 11th grade? It's always the ones making those assertions who are really trying to project the same away from themselves. Just because you failed to even see the value of a high school diploma and chose pepboys as your lucrative career should not necessarily mean you should others with lives ten times better and more fulfilling than your own. Did you get your mother's basement fixed up yet?

Once again Deanster, you failed to achieve anything but to make yourself look like a total jerkoff. Just because there's someone on here that articulates an opinion that's different from yours and calls you on the complete pile of dogshit that you are somehow equates in your mind to spew even more useless dribble and pointless insults, what are you 14? Regardless of your age, I feel someone should send a condolence letter to your parents.

I won't buy a Chinese car in China due to its safety standard alone and also the fit and finish, but knowing the US does have stricter regulations, I am going to give Chery and Chrysler the benefit of the doubt. It is not easy to compete with Kia and Hyundai nowadays, and the rebadged Aveo by Daewoo. The car will fold quickly if it is a POS.

Chery did something to piss off Malcolm Bricklin and make him give up on Chery/Visionary Vehicles. Chrysler may end up just as pissed off by the same thing down the road and this new Chrysler/Chery contract may end up to be meaningless. Bricklin probably saw how a Chery crashes at 5 mph, & that could have been when he knew he had to drop China.

Well, depending on the components, many of them are made in Malaysia, the Philippines, the US, European nations, Singapore, and Israel. China has some limited semiconductor work, but mainly their still only involved in final assembly (like putting a macbook together).
