Citroën has announced that it will unveil its environmentally-friendly C-Cactus concept at next week’s Frankfurt Auto Show. As the name implies, the C-Cactus is designed to consume very little. The majority of the materials used to make the C-Cactus are either recycled or recyclable.
The 100 horsepower C-Cactus uses a diesel-hybrid powertrain mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Citroën claims the setup yields 81 miles per gallon.
The car’s interior continues with minimalist theme and is constructed from just 200 parts, about half the amount of a typical hatchback the size of the C-Cactus. Engineers say this was achieved by abandoning all non-essential features–dashboard buttons were moved to the steering wheel, side windows are fixed glass with sliding panels among several other ideas.
Perhaps even more impressive than all of the C-Cactus’ eco-friendly features is that Citroën says that if the car makes it to production, it would be priced the same as its entry-level C4.
