French automaker Citroen has revealed a striking new C3 supermini, set to go on sale early next year. Most notable for its massive windshield, which forms the front portion of the C3′s roof, the new car also gains a modern interior and will eventually get a super-green diesel engine.
Citroen refers to the C3 by the made-up “Visiodrive” term, which the automaker says aptly describes its large windshield. Designed to improve visibility and create an airy cabin feel, the windshield also gives the C3 its unique look. Citroen first unveiled its large Zenith windshields on the C3 Picasso, an MPV variant of the versatile lineup.
Citroen says the C3 will launch with the HDi 90 diesel with stop/start technology, which will emit a reasonable 99 g/km of CO2 – making it the first Citroen to drop below 100 g/km. A year after launch, a new generation of stop/start powertrains will help it emit as low as 90 g/km for diesel variants.
The C3 should make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
