Confirmed: Alfa Romeo coming to the United States

05/04/2006, 10:20 PM

By admin

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne said during a conference call Wednesday that the Alfa Romeo brand will return to the United States in late 2007. Over the past few months, rumors intensified of Alfa’s return, but they were not officially confirmed until Wednesday. The cars are expected to be distributed through the existing Maserati dealer network. The new Alfa Brera Spider and and 159 Sportwagon (and/or sedan) will most certainly be among the vehicles headed for U.S. shores. We also have a sneaking suspicion that Alfa might coincide the U.S. rollout with the launch of the production 8C Competizione.

Glad to finally see a great European car come here. Maybe other car companies will see how successful Alfa will be and bring thier European cars here (looking at you, Ford).

It is about time for them to get their cars over here. In order to be considered successful in the carmaking world, they must compete in the North American market. Renault and Citroen are you listening?

This is great news. If the 8C comes to the US, and it’s close to what we’ve seen already… I’ll save up as long as I have to!!! Whatever it takes Alpha!!!!

I fail to see why people are happy at this news. Alfa Romeo’s aren’t good cars. At all. They’re unreliable, bad to drive, unergonomic, dangerous in a crash. All Alfa have going for them is the fact that they look good. Are Yanks really that shallow-minded?

No… Yanks buy a LOT of ugly cars…lol

The 8C is drop-dead gorgeous! If they can build it with at least the realibility and quality of the typical GM or Ford car (which isn’t saying much…) they’ll have a winner!

They might have the equivalent quality of a GM or Ford vehicle, but the 8C Competizione will be MUCH more expensive than conventional American cars – up near the regions of BMW and Lexus territory. And really, with GM-like quality at BMW prices, they will get absolutely ripped up in the market.

Saab is a high-dollar GM car, and they still sell well in the states. I believe Alfa’s are a beautiful car, cannot wait to see it, maybe it will help GM problems as of late and give them more market share.

As my old Alfa sits idle in the garage, and I am looking to buy some van/suv/wagon type of thing for $40000 count them yes $40000 for cars we all used to make fun of: Alfa Romeo returning is the best news I’ve heard all day!
