Cool new Camaro Concept renderings, videos

05/24/2006, 4:22 PM

By admin

3D artist Steve Whitaker (a regular member of the 5th Gen Camaro forums) has created some cool new renderings of the Chevrolet Camaro Concept. Whitaker created a verbatim copy of the standard concept, Camaros with different paint schemes and wheel treatments, and even a hotrod Camaro with a massive blower sticking out of the hood. He also came up with a neat hideaway headlight system. See some of Whitaker’s images and some 3D videos he created after the jump…

Great work, Steve. You have skills.

i swear, no other car has had this much hype ever. i hope this thing bombs so bad the cars blow up at the dealership.

One good thing is, it seems the hype is coming from fans more than GM itself.

I’d not be embarrased to ride in this Camaro… as I was in my college roomate’s IROC Z with T tops.

I used to love the previous gen of Camaro’s and was genuinely upset to hear them get discontinued. And at that time, I couldn’t stand the Ford Mustang. About 7 years later, and now it’s the total opposite! The new Mustang is a piece of art, I just love it! And this Camaro is a sad attempt IMO to jump on the neo-classic muscle car trend that the Mustang has started! Neither the Challenger nor the Camaro concepts are anywhere near as well executed as the Mustang… and it’s a FORD!!!!!!

ive never said anything openly about this car and not that this is a platform where my opinion counts but had this car come from any other camp it would have been recieved with open arms — strictly because its a camaro and it pays homage to the 69ss does everybody think is sucks or is just a wagon jumper for the retro trend — the car is amazingly beautiful its a shame that it wont look like this when its released because of government regulations and bean counting, where as honda released the new civic almost if not completely identical to the concept. the only where this car has gone wrong was to be born from american designers — with the success of the 300 i dont think we as americans are mature enough to give another designer a thumbs up for a car that pays tribute to another car. obviously the 300 pays tribute to bentlys and royce’s but because it came out so fast it didnt get the american tradition of getting time to hate it before it comes out which this car seems to suffer- i know nobody gives a rats ass about my opinion but those are my 2 cents

#10 yeah i know i remember seeing the 300c at the chicago auto show and it was already ready as a production vehicle. that car almost had no preproduction hype and was released almost as a bomb to public — this car as beautiful as it is- is taking entirely too long to be released, it will still be a success because a lot of the naysayers will still buy it but it doesnt have the impact it would have had it been released almost immediately

Hey Chi Dell how’s it feel to be a scab/patsy, if I remember correctly you spoke against unions a while back. I may be mistaken but probably not. Sow what is it like to work for Toyota at half regular union pay compared to US autoworkers, I know what you must feel like …..a cheap hoar. Proud IAFF Member.

Last I checked this site wasn’t caled humpmycamaro.com so get over yourself kid. Not everyone is drooling over some GM CONCEPT CAR that hasn’t even seen the showroom floor.

As far as the Challenger being a “sad attempt at retro” it, like the Mustang remains true to the original and how wbout this for a change? BUILDABLE. The Camaro is a 21st century butcher job that is so far out of reality, your better off sticking to your video gaming system for hopes of getting your dream car than to wait for a watered down, cost-cut version of an over-hyped relic.

Mr. Whitaker’s renderings are terrific, he has a lot of talent. Hopefully he has some influence on GM as well.

As for most of you in this forum, please grow up, your name calling and bad language is tiring and it adds nothing to the dialogue.

Why do they always get so far ahead of themselves? Before the new Mustang was actually in productions they had retro-styled 1967-1971 concept ideas for it. Let’s slow down!
