Should the sound made by car turn signals be customizable? One blogger seems to think so. “The point is that when the car’s computer is sending an audio signal to a speaker, it can send anything,” writes CNET blogger Rafe Needleman. “So why not a snappy tune? Why not a different tune or sound for each driver? Why not a pleasing tune, for just a few bucks a month, to replace the grating sound of fingernails being clipped that ships with your car for free?” Needleman seems to be suggesting that companies could sell “clicker sounds” like the sell cellphone ringtones. An interesting idea, though a moot point to us — we can never hear the clicker over our music, anyway. (Recently, we cited a report that indicated most drivers don’t use turn signals because they are lazy.)
