Customizer begins deliveries of 700hp 1969 Camaro SuperCoupe

06/27/2006, 5:03 PM

By admin

The first Baldwin-Motion 1969 Camaro SuperCoupe will be delivered to a customer next week, the car customizer reported today. The #01 Camaro will be delivered to its owner, Dave Flynn, at his Chevrolet dealership in Ohio. Two more customer Camaros are under construction, and Baldwin-Motion is seeking to buy more Camaro donor cars to complete the production run. The limited-production SS-427 and Phase III big-block 540 Camaros start at $169,000 and $189,000 respectively. The latter model (pictured) offers 700 horsepower. All the cars are upgraded with improved interiors, power seats, 14-inch disc brakes, AC, Sony sound, and more. Exterior modifications include paint, a hood scoop, and modern alloy wheels. What a hack job! Why ruin a classic bodystyle with all the Pimped out crap? 169k buys alot of car and this thing looks like a 100 dollar special at the local boneyard that’s been riced out.

it should be a law that if you buy one of these things, you have to have your picture published in the local paper like all the johns they nail in hooker stings.

yes, buying one of these things is as bad as trolling for stretched-out hags in the worst part of town.

I cant beleive what im reading on this page.. You all have no idea whats behind this car. Its not meant to be a stock rendition of the camaro.. this guy set out to create one of the most powerful and agile “street racer” musclecars on the road, not some straight line drag car.. anyways, this is a waste of my time to try and argue with a bunch of people who dont respect people(designers) who try something completely different (ex. bangle bimmers). I’ll agree that the car is a little over the top. But damn people! Give the guy some credit for trying something new…

Is there a “Down Periscope” button for the hood scoop? It just looks like a huge blind spot. The lines on this thing are terrible. The wheels look like they belong on a 308GTB Ferrari, not this thing. And the lowerd stance is SO out of place on this. Does it bounce like the DR.Dre Impala?

It’s a big motor strapped to a boneyard special. No thanks.

I agree we need more pride in this country but if your going to make a super car and base it on a classic car make it flow. This thing is a monster, completely riced out. Sure i’de take one if their giving them away just for the HP. Yes it takes alot of work to design, develop, and construck but a bad rice job is still a rice job.

wickedated – hell YES i’ve got american pride – i drive a 1970 charger with a 440/727.

which is why **** like this joke of a camaro repulses me so. i don’t hate chevys – in fact, i like all brands (ford, chevy, mopar, etc.). i also like imports. but when i see something like this, it’s the logical extension of all the phony tough-guy bull**** we’ve had shoved down our throats to help space out advertising.

of course, i mean all the worthless “monster (insert whatever)” shows; white trash building insane rides for dimwitted rich white aholes who can barely steer them out of the garage, much less handle them.

go to any car show. spend time with guys who actually work on their cars – who build their engines themselves. who take them apart, clean and restore them, and put them back together again.

cars like this camaro are offensive to people like that. so too the “plymouth challenger” that that moron Foose is going to Foist on people.

i realize some people can’t build their own – that’s OK – i don’t do my own body work, for example. but in that case, isn’t it better to buy something that was built by a hobbyist rather than some warehouse in the Valley staffed largely by morons who sub the work to illegals?

besides, the engine bay of this thing looks like a 300ZX. no offense to my nissan brothers, but goddamn.

Look on the bright side: At least people with real resots of the Camaro will see the values go up as they build these things. I think the concept is cool, but the execution needs some work. This car SCREEMS “I am compensating.” Proof positive that money does not buy taste. Think of the beautiful, tasteful, concourse quality ground up resto you could do on a real Camaro with that much money. Also, is this thing an auto or a manual? I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of these things get sould with slush boxes.

some of you are totally clueless when it comes to style, muscle, and good looks. This car has it all. Go back to your Toyota’s and Honda’s. You don’t deserve to even post on this page.

You’re absolutely right, importssuck. This car has it all, style, muscle, good looks and desirability. When was the last time we actually desired anything from Toyota and Honda? Sure they make good family cars, but I dont see them making performance cars, save for the old S2000. The Civic Si is a respectable car, though.

I’d love to own that 700hp beast……..

I’m sorry, that thing is pretty ugly. I had high expectations for it, but it just looks sad. Looks like someone cut it out of clay after a 3 day bender.

For that kind of money, I’d buy 2 to 3 vintage autos with factory blocks and matching numbers.

Oh, and before anyone contests that anyone could possibly dislike this car and be American… I own American performance V-8’s, I’m from Detroit, and have muscle-cars and pin-up art tattooed on my body, so piss off.

I can respect the amount of effort and workmanship that goes into creating a custom like this… but inevitably, the 700 horses and IRS are going to go to waste. At $250,000, these Camaros are destined to be trailer queens. And if I’m going to look at a trailer queen, I’d rather see something historically significant and period-correct, not an over-the-top Monster Garage job. But that’s just my two cents.
