German car customizer Mattes Interieurtechnik has created a customized Mercedes CLS with a nicely integrated iMac personal computer in the rear seats. The iMac’s compact all-in-one design lends itself to such an installation, and the firm makes sure the integration is complete with slick leather covering around the machine. A wireless mouse and keyboard mean there are no exposed wires to contend with. Of course, the customized CLS also gets a completely revised interior, with some pretty fancy upholstery and trimmings. Gallery after the jump…

given I havent’ touched one in the last 5 years, but I have never met a mac I couldn’t crash in 15 minutes or less.
At least a PC on windoze makes it 6 months for me before I have to re-format.
Saying ‘my Mac is better than your PC’ is like saying ‘my 86 hyundai elantra is more reliable than your 86 yugo’ Both get you where you are going, but overall reliability still leaves MUCH to be desired.

Looks like Mike has had bad luck with Mac. I’ve had one now for five years+.
It has NEVER crashed or locked up. My G4’s and G5’s at work (3 total) have had the same seamless performance.

Mike, post 15, go into an Apple Store and try and crash a Mac. You admit you haven’t touched one in five years. While Windows has been using XP for the last five years, Apple has put Mac OS X through five major revisions since 2001. Seriously, go to the Apple Store and try to crash one, then e-mail me with your results.
Personally, I think freedom of virsuses, spyware, and adware is reason ALONE to use a Mac, but there are many other reasons beyond just that.

“Looks like Mike has had bad luck with Mac”
Never owned one, but I’ve used my fais share of them. Like I said, I haven’t been on one since 2001; however, I also prefer AMD over Intel so that is now a strike against them in my book.

i have one of the new iMac, has the dual intel chips. I run Photoshop, Illustrator, Safari, iChat, and iTunes regularly at the same time and dont even see a hint of lock up. i have never met a single person who has used a Mac (not once or twice but actually used one) that went back to a PC. its like Yea…thats a nice Porsche but i think ill stick with my Cavalier. I have a Dell at work (im an graphic artist) and the thing is the big POS I have ever worked with! It couldn’t handle the programs I listed let alone Photoshop and Illustrator at the same time, and its brand new! Having to work on a PC makes me love my Mac so much more

“I have a Dell at work”
that is the problem right there…
A well built PC can run graphic programs as good as a mac… AMD has some dual core chips out there that puts intel to shame (imo)…
We can all agree that Intel vs AMD, Mac vs PC, and Domestic vs Import are issues that will NEVER be settled, especially on these boards.

Mike, you are correct in saying that those issues can never be settled, at least not when one person won’t budge on their position even after you prove every point they have to be incorrect. Five years from now, you still won’t have touched a Mac and you’ll continue to tell people how the last time you used one, it crashed in 15 minutes or less. I have no interest in convincing you to switch to a Mac, but would like to see an end to outdated and false information being spewed from the mouths of people who haven’t touched one in ages.
Your “well built PC” machines still run the same version of Windows as a Dell, so building your own custom machine isn’t going to magically make all of Windows issues go away, (viruses, spyware, adware, Windows constantly alerting me of something I don’t care about, poor user experience, etc). Regarding those AMD dual core chips that you feel put intel to shame, you may want to look into that. Especially take note of the Intel Core 2 Duo chips just released that will be finding their way into computers throughout August.

#23: ss, you are right but since you have the option of booting Windblows XP on your machine, boot that, run the software from your Dell and see if it’s the operating system versus the hardware. That is a more fair evaluation of things.

Don’t get me wrong I love Linux but it’s definately not ready for someone like my mom to try out. Case in point, apache is waaay easier to use on an Apple, you just click “Turn Websharing On.” (Actually that isn’t that great of an example…) And technically, Windows is owning both Apple and Linux in marketshare.
