Daimler Chrysler is expected to announce a profit of 697 million euros on Wednesday, for the third fiscal quarter. While considerably better than the recent losses posted by General Motors and Ford , DaimlerChrysler’s profits will be 27 percent less than the year-ago quarter, according to a Dow Jones Newswires survey of nine analysts. The report cites higher tax rates and restructuring of the Mercedes unit as reasons for the decline. Sales, however, are expected to be up 5 percent overall.
