A new report by German newspaper Die Welt suggests that Volkswagen and Daimler Chrysler are looking to become close collaborators on future projects. It was revealed by Volkswagen’s chairman Bernd Pischetsrieder that the two companies have been talking since 2001. Potential projects include a DCX-based VW minivan, as well as possible Dodge-branded VW Polo. It was made clear, however, that Audi and Mercedes would not be involved in these collaborations due to competitive reasons.
