About a week ago Leftlane brought you a report (see the original article for a refresher) about a small town mayor that decided to pull over a state trooper after being issued a speeding ticket by the very same law enforcement officer.

Now, the state of South Carolina Department of Public Safety has released the dash camera footage from the trooper’s car showing exactly how the stop went down. While the footage may be the basic equivalent of automotive daytime talk show television, you just have to see this video to believe this bold mayor in action.

(Skip from 1:15 to 5:45 to skip the time the officer was silently writing the ticket – more after video)

After making a u-turn to pull the trooper over, to which he complied, the mayor proceeded to question the trooper, “Can I see your driver’s license?” The trooper complied, along with a request for his insurance and registration. The mayor then went as far as to request the trooper to follow him, but the trooper refused and waited for his supervisor to arrive on the scene.

So who was in the right? The outcome has yet to be decided, but with the level of exposure this traffic stop has received by now, expect it to run the full course of the law.
