Strike averted: Delphi delays plan to void contracts

02/17/2006, 9:40 AM

Delphi has set a new deadline of March 31 for asking a bankruptcy judge to void its labor contracts, representatives said today. The deadline was previously set for today, leaving many analysts fearing a strike. Earlier this week, JP Morgan analyst Himanshu Patel warned that a work stoppage at GM could cripple the company, and cause a lost of around $5 billion per month. “We have said consistently that the only basis of finding satisfactoryresolution to these matters is through the use of the collective bargaining
process with Delphi, GM and the UAW at the bargaining table,” UAW said in a statement.
