Yes atouyra, but theres a difference between being smart and being educated. My english teacher at college has a PhD, however she doesn’t understand percentages. She marked 84% on my paper which i achieved 28/30. It also just wasn’t an one time mistake, she had to take everybody’s back in and re mark it. However, with her PhD she would be considered well educated.

If you live in a congested metropolitan city, this car is a much needed solution. I drive too much on freeways to consider the fourtwo, but I know a few people who’s life would be much easier with this car.

CTS, I have some in-law relatives who are more 250 lbs and they are quite comfortable in those things. I would not call it “nice driving”. Tranny sucks and the only one available is auto or auto-manual. I personally would prefer city car of different make. The deposits are not mandatory and only $99.00. I suspect there will be ton of those Smarts on eBay once they start to sell.

I think this is an awesome vehicle for people who live in the city. Personally, I would love the idea of having a vehicle that can park in all those open “half” spaces on the road, and uses virtually no gas.

Smart cars have been available in Canada for 2-3 years now and they sell very well here. You are actually getting the 2nd generation as they have just switched from little turbo-diesels to gasoline engines along with a mild re-skinning. I’m not surprised by the demand just given the difference in population.

Their only limitation, quite naturally, is that they’re really only in their element as an urban runabout. I see them on our freeways but they look like frightened animals amongst the tractor trailers and behemoth SUVs (that would describe both the vehicle and the driver).

Even having seen them for this long I’m not convinced that they’re a better choice than any one of the new generation of sub compacts. They’re certainly no cheaper but they are definitely less versatile. Still, if being the first on your block is your game, go for it. We’ll see how it all shakes out after the ‘new’ has worn off.

This is good news though. The rest of the worlds automanufacturers can go screw themselves up the bum hole for saying the U.S would never even consider a small car. The future is looking bright for Smart; if only they could get the rest of their product line at speed!

A free Smart with a 1.6 mil home? Excellent news for Al Gore Wannabees. Now you can have a 5,000 square foot home which consumes more electricity and natural gas than a small village, and still pretend you are environmentally conscious.

Also a local home builder is giving them to new home buyers with house purchase ($850K to 1.6 Mil homes on golf course).
