Diddy, Puff Daddy, P.Diddy… regardless of what Sean Combs goes by today, he’s rumored to be looking into purchasing a Formula 1 team. Apparently Combs and driver Lewis Hamilton, a sensational rookie driver, discussed the rapper buying into a race team.
The London Times reports that Combs was at a launch for his new fragrance – “Unforgivable” – in London, when he made an informal announcement that he is seriously pursuing ownership of a Formula 1 team. He’s hardly the first Hollywood star to have expressed interest in racing, although his automotive interests prior to the comment have mostly been limited to his line of Sean John-branded custom wheels. No word yet on when to expect chrome 24″ wheels on Formula 1 cars.
Combs and Hamilton are rumored to have spent a good bit of the night discussing a potential F1 team. Hamilton races for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and is currently leading the series – an impressive feat given his rookie status.

Okay. No one cares what you think after, If after, a BLACK man who has money, he made himself, Legit, decides to spend some of that money on a racing team. There’s nothing wrong with it and you know it. I think you’re just ignorant to the fact that people other than white like auto racing as well.
Diddy, buys and maintains a strong and winning team, It will give aspiring black drivers a road into the second whitest sport in the world (Hockey is the first).
Oh, and Paris Hilton… she’d bang them before she every considered buying them… as if she could. Unlike Diddy, Paris still has to get an allowance.
As for the environmental aspect in racing, a LOT of companies use Formula racing to develop tech for use in consumer products. Honda is really pushing Ethanol, Audi works Diesel (mostly in prototype racing), and still more. Green is in and if they want to sell it, hey have to make it good. Racing improves the breed. But you wouldn’t know that.
Yes, I know all the racist xxxx-mouths are going to chime in now. I’ve thrown in my two cents.

all i was trying to say was basically that f1 is changing the rules, making things less exciting than before and if celebrities start buying teams now where will it end? will it be 1 maybe 2 celebs buying teams or will it be 10?
and paris was just an sarcastic example.

Hopefully if he does buy a team then I hope its one at the back of the grid cos he will only ruin any major team. I don’t think he could actually afford any better then maybe a spyker ot torro rosso but they have been brought by wealthier financier anyway.
P.s. Plus leave Hamilton where he is. Leave him where he atleast has half a chance

So long as he doesn’t try making F1 more popular i am fine because F1 is still genuine racing without any of that media bull****. Once it starts becoming mainstream it will go from racing to entertaining. P.S. I personally prefer racing. I will shoot myself if F1 becomes an entertainment sport. Aside from that if I were him I would already have a racing team. But I guess it is better late then never for him.

So quick to throw out the race card. Take a chill pill everyone. I hope I don’t live in a world where only white people are “allowed” to be criticized. With that said, I think he’s an arrogant ass. I’ve seen his interviews, I’ve heard his lyrics, he’s an ass. If he can actually manage an F1 team great, I’ll have a shred of respect for him. Otherwise I’d prefer him to contain his arrogance to the other labels he already has.

I don’t care if he is black, white, green with pink spots or MochaFrappachino. The real issue is what business sense does it make for him to purchase an F1 team?
How will this help him market his “brand” to his target audience? Perhaps he sees Hamilton as the opening to a new market, the African/Asian/English young educated market. I dunno, maybe not. I think Lewis is the best thing to happen to F1 since Chunky Chapman invented downforce. but I don’t see where Puffy dropping several HUNDRED mill large does much other than buy him the best seats in the paddock. But then, maybe I am not privy to the new 2008 Diddy MK 9 sedan soon to be introduced.
Makes a good story, anyhow….and perhaps Paris wants to buy a team so she had first shot at hot, new stud drivers. Remember, Nebraska is like Paris Hilton, flat, white and easy to enter!

“He’s worth about 400 million bucks. He’s got the cash and credit to really buy anything.” ….. not really. I think Ferrari spends about 300 million a year just to fund their team, and they aren’t even the highest funded team. (toyota is, but they suck) Diddy would have to give up most of his money just to fund a team for one year, although there would also be other sponsers to help him out with the cost.

Diddy is a xxxxxxx tool. This is another example of him trying to hobnob with elite eurotrash by dabbling in their hobbies (haute couture, fragrances, now racing). He should stick to what he does best – remixing singles for rappers/singers that eclipse him and shut his mouth.

Letterman owns a team so Its nothing new if Combs buys one. I have a feeling like if he does buy it, he won’t be involved in it. He will hire some one who knows what they are doing to make decisions for him. He’ll just show up at the races with some broad and go look I own that car, and rap about how he’s got so much money he can own an f1 team.

The way I see it, Combs should buy an F1 team. I like watching F1, but I don’t get the Speed channel. What better way to increase F1’s U.S. exposure than have a trendy celebrity (whether or not you agree with that or not) buy a team. I doubt he’d manage the team, because what the heck does he know about world-class racing, but if he can front the cash, attract advertising, and raise F1’s U.S. popularity, there’s no down side.
Hamilton definitely should stay where he’s at, though.

Diddy should by in to GP2 not F1.
F1 is for the mega rich companies. Toyota burns the equivalent of Dddy’s personal wealth in 1 year.
Other than that I say if Fisichella can do it Diddy can too.

If Diddy follows his music model to achieve success in F1 he will steal…er I mean “sample” parts from successful F1 teams.
His car and team will be from parts of Ferraris, McLarens and Renaults.
Its called “sampling” not stealing.
