Drivers of diesel vehicles, who have faced extraordinarily high fuel prices since Hurricane Katrina, are finally getting some relief, according to Automotive News. The average price for a gallon of diesel fuel was $2.58 a gallon on Tuesday, the same as the average price for a gallon of premium unleaded gasoline. One month ago, diesel users were paying an average of 15 cents more a gallon than the average price of premium unleaded and 34 cents a gallon more than users of regular unleaded. One year ago, diesel fuel sold for an average of $2.06 a gallon, 2 cents a gallon less than premium unleaded but 17 cents a gallon more than regular unleaded.
