The concept is to take a heavy duty construction vehicle’s engine and make it work for a car. In the case of JCB, the construction equipment manufacturer is set to attempt to break the diesel land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats later this Summer. Named the DieselMax, this land-rocket will be powered by two of the construction companies same four-cylinder engine found in its production back-hoe. Weighing in at more than 3tons and measuring 29ft. long, JCB hopes to reach a top-speed of more than 763.035mph(the previous record set in 1997)with two 750hp twin-turbo diesel engines transmitting power via separate six-speed transmissions. It just affects how long it takels to get up to speed. Power and aerodynamics are top priorities for land-speed cars. And what Kendall said. Minus the duhh.
