Dodge Avenger to be offered with diesel option?

08/16/2006, 3:23 PM

By admin

The forthcoming Dodge Avenger — as well as a future version of the 2007 Chrysler Sebring — will be offered with Volkswagen’s 136-horsepower 2.0-liter TDI diesel in the United States, according to a report by U.K.-based AutoExpress cited by Edmunds. Because Leftlane has not seen the AE report, we cannot independently verify that it contains this claim. While it might seem logical that such an engine would be offered in the U.K., it’s surprising to hear Chrysler would offer the option in America. As previously reported, the the Sebring coupe-convertible and Dodge Avenger are expected to debut at the Paris Motor Show in July.

Just get the Jetta. I think it gets 400 miles per gallon or something like that.

The jetta is a nice looking german car, the avenger looks like a pregnant Caliber. Which would you rather own?

Bob, I’m sure it will be more reliable than the little green monster… you still have that?

My question… is the 2.0 able to meet the new low sulfer standards?

I don’t believe anyone has seen the Avenger yet, Afish….

Do you have a link?

/I think a sebring dx edition would be unique
//loves the smell of a diesel

///Doesn’t the diesel Jetta get 11,000 mpg and have tires that actually grow tread, so that as the tire gets older, traction improves?

Why don’t they slap a Daimler diesel engine in there instead of a VWAG one? -mt

I’m guessing the brilliant 200 CDi engine is way too expensive and sophisticated for the target market

Hmmm

The Jetta TDI doesn’t roll over the earth, it makes the earth rotate faster underneath its 200,000 mile durability tires while not actually burning diesel, but instead creating more diesel. If you start with a nearly empty tank and make the earth move about 500 miles, you’ll end up with about half a tank.

The benz diesel is more expensive and bigger as it is a 2.2 ltr compared to 2.0 ltr.

?Why is it being callinged Scavenger, is not a goodly naming as is liking to Hyena or Vulture here in India

Because like the rest of Chrysler’s lame lineup it’s scavenging for buyers (other than rental car agencies, which are the Sebring’s biggest buyers).

if gm and ford had half the balls dodge have, maybe they wouldn’t be in such financial trouble…..maybe the years of boring, underpowered, outdated designs are catching up with them.

This car looks prity good like a mini charger even. It looks way better then the sebring and should easy be able to compete with the corolla’s and accords. My only concern is the interior and how cheap it will be goinng by the caliber as reference

Bring it on. People don’t understand diesels because they are not mechanically inclined and have not studied about how diesels are way more efficient than gas engines. Hemi engine suck fuel. We need 50mpg plus not 400 hp.
