There have been lots of leaks in enthusiast forums this week, including the latest that the much-delayed Dodge Caliber SRT-4 will be rated at 280 horsepower, not the 300 hp that Chrysler had announced for the high performance version of Dodge’s small car.
A member at CaliberForums.com discovered a Canadian product information page on the 2008 Caliber SRT-4, which shows 280 hp and 260 lb-ft from the turbocharged 2.4 liter four-cylinder. It looks like the new car will run 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds according to Chrysler’s traditionally conservative figures. A 6-speed manual by Getrag will be standard.
Other SRT-4 features we can glean from the dealer product pages include standard Sachs shock absorbers, a reduced ride height, SRT-tuned ESP, Bosch front brake calipers from the Charger police cars, rear calipers from the Avenger, 19″ wheels, a functional hood scoop, and four colors for the Canadian market: Brilliant Black, Sunburst Orange, Bright Silver and Inferno Red.
It looks like 3% of Calibers in the Canadian market will be SRT-4 variants. U.S. production and features are expected to be very similar to their Canadian counterparts.
We’ve already seen lots of good photos of the Caliber SRT-4 from its introduction at February’s Chicago Auto Show. We had expected to see the Caliber released as a 2007 model, but it’s obvious that it will be released soon as a ’08.
