I'd take a Mazdaspeed 3 over this anyday. The Mitsu lancer is made off the same chassis. Quit bitchin' about awd Calibers and buy an EVO. Can't afford it? Then stick with the front wheel drive.

Wait one goddamn minute...

First we all know LP640 is a queer panty waist who thinks he knows about cars because his mommy gives him computer time during the summer to keep him out of trouble.

Second, Ass-ton Martin is a douche, 'nuff said.

I semi-agree with Assclown Deanster, though now looking at the torque ratings again 6.2 seems about right, there's only 260 lbs-ft moving those front wheels (or all wheels, whatever)

But still... a lot of people have been crying over this announcement, here and other places... well boo-fuckin-hoo. The announce 300 and it got bumped back to 280... this will still be a fast car no matter which way you cut it.

What the fuck is this its like he is trying to lie to a buch of preschool kids you really don't have me fooled I think you watch fast and the ferious to much, all the bull shit in that movie is starting to apeer in you own life, my sister in-law had an SRT-4 neon and that was as gutless as a gutshot seagal.

Its to bad i sold my camaro. I have taken it to the drag strip all the way in Port Alberni (Western Canada) for the islands best drag show Thunder in the Valley and i did 11.26, 11.33, 11.29, and 11.30 and that is the exact order from first heat to fourth heat. but it was running on nitrous. I still think you can see my old Camaro (1981) on there web site its the Orange one with the black SS strips. none of you (that meens everyone) have to look i just want to prove that i was really there. (www.hcarlphotography.com) then look under Aug 13 2006 Thunder in the Valley i think thats where it is.

SRT-4Ken-
The link titled CaliberForums.com at the top of the page... there they have a photocopied page of a Dodge Caliber SRT-4 broschure, where it shows technical features and details.

And you still can't say Aston Martin without say Ass... Excuse me, like I mentioned, I've heard it's got problems with torque steer and wheel hop, but most people aren't going to take it on the track. Most people who buy these aren't rice racers... as aready pointed out. Also most people who buy Civics and Evo's aren't rice racers either, although more so than other cars.

I think Dodge needs to ditch the Caliber after this model cycle, go back to a cool small coupe and sedan . They should have stolen MB's C-class chassis and run with it. IT would have been awesome to see a small 2+2 based on the C230 hatch with 280 hp.

So you DO flip burgers all day? I bet you wear the clown suit too ;) And varmit to shoot... was that supposed to be a diss?

But anyways the numbers and everything are dissapointing. 14.6 on the dragstrip, and no LSD from what's said is dissapointing to me.
It sounds like a fun ride regardless. I can't tell much from the interior, but it looks good.
I've also heard it's undrivable on the track, with wheel hop and torque steer (which was reconfirmed by the second to last comment on the page).

slow 0-60 could be traction limited like the first year of the turbo neons that didn't include a limited slip. I see no mention of one here...another one wheel drive car? Wouldn't surprise me, even the SRT-8's don't have LSD's.

Im sorry but I think this thing is hideous. Looks like a suped-up Matrix or something. I don't see anything sport about this.
BTW, I used to own and '04 SRT-4 for 3 1/2 years before I got my Evolution. Huge fan of the SRT range. Just not this one.

0-60 in 6.2 seconds sounds a tad slow for 280 hp in something that small.

Remember that HP rating standards were recently updated, usually reducing the measured output. So the 'old' 300 HP may be the 'new' 280. Either way, 280 HP through a relatively lightweight FWD is gonna be absolute hoonage. I a see short but very exciting lives for these cars.

I agree, 280 horsepower seems like it will be more then enough for the caliber,I think, though I could be wrong, 300 horsepower might be a little to much for this type of front wheel drive vehicle.
