It’s getting harder and harder to name specific vehicle nameplates from the 1970s, let alone the names of available colors. However, one hue seems to stand out above all other in the automotive world, and Chrysler is bringing it back for 2010 – Plum Crazy.
Dodge doesn’t have much in the way of improvements planned for the 2010 Challenger, but the Michigan automaker will be adding a new color scheme to the Challenger mix – the iconic Plum Crazy. Dodge most recently resurrected retro-themed colors such as Go Mango and Top Banana on Daytona versions of the Charger sedan.
The Plum Crazy color scheme will be available on 2010 Challenger R/T and SRT8 models. Buyers will also have the option of black or white side stripes. Interior color options remain open, as well as a variety of piping and stitching choices.
The 2010 Challenger is available for order at Dodge dealers now but you better act fast as Plum Crazy will undoubtedly be a popular color choice.

Alright, the purple is a bit too much for me, and I still think the Challenger looks too overweight. This would be the perfect car for the Count of Sesame Street.

Very nice, I am glad to see plum crazy purple coming back. That is such an iconic color for the old mopars. However, I personally am more partial to Sub-Lime Green for the hi-impact colors. What Chrysler should do is create a Vanishing Point edition Challenger. Ford can do it with the Bullett Mustang, why cant Dodge.

Remind me of all the Cavaliers earlier this decade… If you can’t beat your competititon or even match them in many ways – just stick a crazy color on it and you’ll find some suckers to buy them. Just look around at how many bright yellow Cavs are around!
^That’s really not a fair comparison, this is a good car, but it’s sort of in the same frame of thinking.

The ‘70 Runner must be nice. I have always liked that body style of the Road Runner the best. I think I would probably order a 2010 Challenger RT in white and and do my own Vanishing Point clone… I would just try to avoid running it into bulldozers like he did.

Unfortunately yes what referring to purple being more for people that are not straight was common thought. I remember them talking about that on Politically Incorrect with Bill Mahr. It was brought up because of the conversations on the teletubbies. That was a funny show.

Looks good, but I’m not sure if I would buy a purple car. Maybe. I have to say that I love this car, but Chrysler/Fiat needs to shed some weight on it and price it more competitvely against the Camaro and Mustang. That will probably never happen and when sales start to drop off dramatically, they will wonder why. The weight/price issue will be exactly why the car will be doomed in a few yrs. Enjoy it while it lasts folks.

Denverguy, they don’t go as quickly as Camaros (they are a little overpriced) but it depends where you live. The dealership where I got mine sold out of them 2 months ago and they are just now getting some 2010’s in. Down south they tend to go a little quicker i guess, mine came from a Michigan dealer where it sat for 4 months before I got it.

@F50. I know the Challenger (’09 and ‘10) can be had as either a 6 speed manual or 5 speed automatic in the R/T and SRT8 models. However, my SRT8 is an automatic and my GTO is a stick. (also came as a 4 speed automatic) Maybe the SRT8 would be more fun as a stick shift. I didn’t want 2 stickshift cars. Sorry for the confusion.

The 6.4L motor is coming and a new 5/6 speed Auto may happen. The dealers here can not keep them on the Show room, The get the very same MPG as the Ford SHO but it has a HEMI !
The Eco Boost engine is less powerful and gets the same fuel mileage as the more powerful V8 HEMI

I don’t like how the plum crazy looks on the new challenger in the pictures may be it will look better in person. I do love the plum crazy that fades to dark blue on the original muscles cars even if it is after market i would love to see it as an option stock.
I cant wait for the 6.4L, i hope they find a way to bring the price down a bit on the r/t and srt8, 3500 of the r/t and 2-3k or the srt8. they need to have the r/t less then the Camaro ss because the Camaro is the faster car for around the same price even if the challenger is bigger.
