Live from SEMA: Dodge Challenger SRT10 Concept

11/04/2008, 4:56 PM

By Drew Johnson

Dodge dropped the goods on its Viper-powered Challenger SRT10 last month, but the hopped-up muscle car has officially made its first public appearance at the SEMA Show. As you might have guessed by its name, the Dodge Challenger SRT10 features the Dodge Viper SRT10’s 8.4 liter V10 engine shoehorned under the hood of the retro muscle car.

Putting out 600 horsepower and 560 lb-ft. of torque, the Challenger SRT10 Concept’s V10 is lifted right out of the Viper. That’s an increase of almost 180 horsepower over the top-end production Challenger SRT8’s 425 horsepower.

Other modifications to the SEMA concept include a coat of Tornado Red paint, a carbon fiber shaker hood that recalls the 1970 Hemi ‘Cuda, upgraded brakes and Bilstein shocks. Inside, the SRT10 Concept gets unique seats, carbon fiber accents and a red starter button on the dash like its Viper brother.

I HOPE THEY SEND IT TO PRODUCTION BUT PROBLY NOT, MOST AUTOMAKERS ARE GROWING VAGINAS CUZ OF THE ENERGY/FINANCIAL CRISIS…

ITS FVCKED UP CUZ, MOST PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT OR PRE-ORDERED THE SRT8’s WOULD HAVE HAPPILY PAYED 30 GRAND MORE FOR THIS THING…

BUT CHRYSLER IS THE WORST COMPANY AT STRATEGIC PLANNING…

THEY SHOULD ALSO MAKE A DROP TOP MODEL FOR THIS AND USE THE PLATFORM FOR A 2-DOOR 300 C DROP-TOP…BUT THEY’RE NOT…. BECAUSE THEY SUCK….

SRT10 IS AN INSTANT CLASSIC THOUGH!!

That’s a bad-ass Challenger, that’s all I have to say.

Don’t even want to think of of how much this thing would cost however.

For the price that will probably be, you might as well buy the viper car along with the viper engine.

As boner inducing as these one-offs are, I’m sure the thousands of Chrysler employees who lost their jobs lately are absolutely thrilled this is what the company has chosen to fritter away their dwindling resources on.

Probably a bit overkill for that chassis, but pretty cool none the less…. Every time I read or watch something about Chrysler I’m reminded of how they’re on borrowed time. It’s a f****** shame, it really is.
