The LB4 makes good power for what it is which is an engine based on a 1950's design small block chevy engine minus 2 cylinders but high RPM and pushrod have never been terms that went together well with a cast iron head and block and you will have to have that for a big turbo like a GT42R. A Syclone could beat a Ferrari 348 in the 1520 which is nice but that is like comparing apples to oranges since the Ferrari was not made to be a drag car, it was made to do everything well and the Syclone was made to go fast in a straight line which is really pretty boring to people who are into all aspects of a vehicles performance which you obiviously are not. The Syclone was not a cheap vechicle when it came out and it was impressive for the time and to some extent still is seeing as it is a very un-GM type of performace vehicle in much the same way the GN was and still is but once again it's all about a straight line. Dollar for dollar I would take the STi, or Evo (or even a Celica All-Trac) over a Syclone in the AWD turbo performance (for 30K MSRP when new) genre just to have some handling and braking. I love the plastic STi commnet too...did you not notice the arces of black plastic wrapped all the way around the bottom of a Syclone? “a Syclone isn’t just any pickup truck, it’s the quickest pickup truck ever produced” That’s like winning the gold medal in the 100 meter dash at the Special Olympics….it’s still a truck with a solid rear axle and leaf springs in the rear, it still handles poorly and does not have the best braking performance on the planet, it was a poor excuse for a truck; meaning the pay load it could carry was so small you might as well have called it a trunk instead of a bed. The LB4 makes good power for what it is which is an engine based on a 1950′s design small block chevy engine minus 2 cylinders but high RPM and pushrod have never been terms that went together well with a cast iron head and block and you will have to have that for a big turbo like a GT42R. A Syclone could beat a Ferrari 348 in the 1520 which is nice but that is like comparing apples to oranges since the Ferrari was not made to be a drag car, it was made to do everything well and the Syclone was made to go fast in a straight line which is really pretty boring to people who are into all aspects of a vehicles performance which you obiviously are not. The Syclone was not a cheap vechicle when it came out and it was impressive for the time and to some extent still is seeing as it is a very un-GM type of performace vehicle in much the same way the GN was and still is but once again it’s all about a straight line. Dollar for dollar I would take the STi, or Evo (or even a Celica All-Trac) over a Syclone in the AWD turbo performance (for 30K MSRP when new) genre just to have some handling and braking. What is up with AMC Rebal Machine wanna be paint job on this thing anyway? I guess one of the designers lost a bet and had to paint the thing to look like a Lynyrd Skynyrd album cover. We better let all the MK4 Supra humpers know there is a new sheriff in town that is going to run their import love'n asses out of town with a mighty 600 (likely crank) horsepower....I'm sure they're all trembling now. Good job Chrysler, way to not use the money you spent on this "project" and the tooling required for it to work on designing an economy car that actually sells to a real customer and not a rental car agency so you might not have to shut the lights within the next 5 years. Keep on putting all of your eggs in the 15 mpg or less basket and see how those profit and loss statements start looking...like they are good now.
