I’d buy a Dodge Razor today, I don’t understand why that didn’t make it into production. I think it was much better looking then the Demon.

I know what you mean mazdaman, but from LLN’s article I believe that they’ll only use the chassis from Chery. I bet it will still be engineered by Chrysler and be produced stateside. Although yeah alot of money will be saved just by not having to engineer and develop a new chassis and even more would be saved if it was manufactured in China. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

All I know is if they could offer the base 172hp 2.4L model of this in like the 18-20k range. That alone would put it at a major advantage. And offer the SRT-4 model with the 300hp 2.4l in the mid to high 20’s then the next thing I’ll be asking is where do I sign up and put my deposit?

I would have preferred to see the Demon produced as a rear wheel drive roadster. Although this is a little disappointing, it is not my biggest concern. I am more concerned with the fact that it will be sitting on a Chery platform. I hope they get involved in the engineering and keep a detailed check on quality control. What goes over o.k. in China, may not necessarily fly in other parts of the world. The last thing Chrysler needs now is more bad press.

The only other concern is the company’s priorities. With so many other pressing concerns that the company seems to have at the moment, why are they worrying about bringing a low volume affordable roadster to market? It seems like money and resources should be focused on fixing the mainstream, high volume products first.

Well I must say I am a little disappointed to hear that they are making this FWD instead of RWD. I was also hoping that this would make a worthing rival to the Sky, Solstice and Miata.

However Dodge has something here instead to dominate the sport FWD segment. and If they can keep it’s curb weight low, and as Johnnycanuk said be able to sell it a few grand cheaper than the Sky, Solstice and Miata then Dodge indeed will have a winner on its hands. And oh boy watch out when they do offer a Demon SRT-4 with that 2.4L Turbocharged engine. I’m going to have to get a faster car…

This is a serious mistake. As someone said earlier, it’s not like the public won’t care, since most of the public isn’t made up of car enthusiasts, because the only people buying this car will be enthusiasts most likely, and they’ll want RWD, and they’ll have lots of other options to choose from. Damn. They could have had a winner.

Chrysler just screwed themselves over. I own a Solstice GXP and I guarantee I would never have bought it if it was FWD. It ruins the entire purpose of the car, to be a sports car and to be fun to drive.

I doubt it will see the lite of day, regardless of drive wheel configuration. There is no money in Chrysler to produce low volume convertible. Somebody at Chrysler knows it.

You are lucky, My co-worker and I had mid and late 90’s Dodge product.

His cooked the oil and fried the engine…2.7L anyone ? The car doors ate the windows often, and on the freeway the car would run badly if the A/C wasn’t turned on.

Mine ate transmissions and waterpumps. It also ate many other parts I don’t have time or desire to remember.

My dodge has 108,000 miles, not one problem. Sure, I forcibly broke the visor’s little plastic clip when slamming it into place once. But, other than tires, fluid changes, brakes (wear/maintenance items)… NOTHING. I drive it hard, too.
