Not necessarily, “no more incentives”. When manufacturers will not be able to sell their inventory, there will be 8 large as an incentive again. Each truck yields 10K, so even 9 large incentive is a good deal for manufacturer.

this is what these auto companies should have been doing the entire time because of, what most of you have already said, over production. it is technically losing money if the vehicles never leave the lots until they are marked down so substantially that the companies make no money anyway. like jjt said, raiv talks a lot of sense with this whole supply and demand mumbo-jumbo…

Hey, I understand and support reducing truck inventory. I’ve been smacking GM over the head with that for over a year. I just find it funny how Chrysler and Ford need to wait for GM to make a move to know what to do.

Injun, if anything the price of the Solstice is going UP from what I can see. The GXPs I am seeing now are closer to $31k than they are to $28k.

Guys, the general idea would be to NOT flood the market with unsold units, right? Remember supply and demand from economics class? It is interesting that they are finally allowed to idle plants instead of just producing unsold orders anyway.

BTW, I found it interesting that GM is able to be into the 3rd model year for the Solstice and still no retail incentives. The only thing they are doing is including it in the 0% on 2007 models, and a small leasing subsidy. Maybe they are all going to try to follow that business model from now on…
