The Dodge Magnum SRT 8 and Mercedes E55 Estate have a lot in common: for one, they’re both station wagons. They’re also both capable of reaching 60mph in less than five seconds, and can run the quarter-mile in less than 13 seconds. Both are made by Daimler Chrysler companies. So which is is the better choice for gearhead dads who want to hang with Lambos, Porsche s, and Ferrari s? Is the E55 AMG $47,000 better than the Magnum SRT8? Motor Trend‘s short answer: no. “The Magnum SRT8 is an astonishing performance value; a car with the power and the handling to match the macho menace of its slammed sportwagon styling.” However, the story doesn’t end there. “The E55 AMG wagon is the ultimate stealth fighter, so maniacally muscular under its sensible-shoes skin that, if you can afford it, you’ll find the fun of blowing unsuspecting Ferraris into the weeds worth every cent.”
