I'm pretty damn sure this isn't even an SRT-8 test mule as Chrysler always likes to give SRT cars some big, dual exhaust tips at least. It's probably just some dude who slapped on that SRT badge to make him look "cool".

Spied: Is this a Dodge Nitro SRT8?

If it's on the back of a flatbed then it most definitely is!

Stranded on the side of the
Road waiting for a
Towtruck

-8 being the number of months before the POS is ready for the scrapyard. That's why Neons are only 4's!

Go GM!

Shouldn't Jeep get this instead (Liberty SRT8), since they only have one SRT8 to sell (the Grand Cherokee) to Dodge's three (Magnum, Charger, Challenger)?

It's too bad that people believe what ever gets written in the car reveiw magazines. Most of those consumer reports and car reviews are biased and the information can be twisted to say whatever they want. Until you've actually driven one for yourself, as far as I'm concerned, your opinion doesn't matter. The Nitro is actually built off of the 2008 Jeep Liberty and has a frame that is meant to be abused off road. So even if they could put a 6.1L Hemi in it, it would take that power in stride.

actually what if Chrysler could put a 2.4L Turbo World Engine (that was in the Neon SRT4 and now in Caliber SRT4) in this and tune it to give let's say 300+ HP, The Jeep Cherokee is crazy fast with the 425hp 6.1L Hemi so I think 330hp would be enough for this.

I think a new SRT8 Liberty would be better, even though they are essentially the same, I prefer the looks of the new Liberty and with a 4X4 and a 5.7L (I doubt the 6.1L Hemi will make it into to this) sell it in the high 20's to low 30's and I'd buy something more like that. Although I don't even want to think about how much it would cost to pay for gas on one of these.

Too bad every Jeep vehicle, as well as the Dodge Nitro, made consumer reports worst 10 list. It's a piece of crap vehicle and there doesn't need to be a really fast version of a turd.

i like the nitro. i liked it ever since the concept debuted and was excited to hear it when they decided to produce it. i woulda thought they would only do an SRT-6 version though for an SRT model.

The Nitro sucks. It's been universally hated upon since the day it debuted. It's outdated, ugly, and low quality. The last thing we need is another version of a Piece of **** truck.

It's a factory option that you can only get on the 300C, so it still has the 5.7L Hemi, which is plenty of power for most.

ok vincentvegas74, I saw like a week a go a silver 300 that had the SRT badge but no 8 attached to it. from the outside it looked identical to the 300C SRT8 and I was wondering wtf it was. I thought someone just put the badge on there, but ok it was a SRT Design option. Now I know.

It could just be a design package. They currently offer an SRT Design group on the 300, which basically gets you the suspension, steering, wheels and seats from the SRT8 version, but minus the Brembo Brakes and 6.1 Litre Hemi.

Not every model needs a SRT, SS, SVT, etc...version.
instead of buying an SRT Nitro, for around the same money I would just get a nicer car instead.
its all relative
the "8" in SRT8 means its an 8 cylinder....if they meant a "4" they would of called it
SRT4

instead of buying an SRT Nitro, for around the same money I would just get a nicer car instead.
its all relative
the “8″ in SRT8 means its an 8 cylinder….if they meant a “4″ they would of called it
SRT4

So if it's a SRT8 does that mean they stuffed a V8 in there? I would have thought they put the SRT4 motor in it.

gas could reach $10/gallon, people would still buy big v8s. maybe not from dodge, but you won't see MB, BMW and Audi shutting their V10s, V12s and V8s.

I'd love to have one of these, but with gas prices fast approaching $4/gallon, why?

The last thing Dodge needs to do for the Nitro is make an SRT-8 version. That said I love fast trucks, so bring it on :).
