Dodge prices 2009 Ram pickup

08/13/2008, 3:11 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Dodge announced today that the all-new 2009 Ram pickup will start at $22,170 for regular cab models, $26,225 for Quad Cab models and $32,530 for Ram Crew 1500 models. Those figures, which include $900 destination, reflect little-to-no increase over 2008 suggested retail prices despite additional equipment.

The new Ram comes at a time when some dealers taking a loss on 2008s just to clear inventory space for 2009s. Still, Dodge says that the new features and added equipment on the 2009 should give it a clear advantage over the 2008. Many exclusive features, like a coil-spring rear suspension, RamBox storage in the bed rails and a luxurious interior on higher-feature models, should set it apart from its competition. Newly standard equipment includes curtain side airbags and four-wheel antilock disc brakes.

Dodge’s new Hemi engine, which puts out 390 horsepower and 407 lb-ft. of torque. Dodge says the 4×2 R/T regular cab will accelerate to 60 miles per hour in under six seconds.

Looks like they tweaked the engine to get over Tundra’s 381. It USED to be 380.
I like this truck much more than the new F-150 or Silvy.

Boo-urns, why did gm and now dodge rip off fords flat looking front end. Thumbs up to nissan for being original and making a good truck, these other brands should try a little harder and maybe wouldn’t have to fire so many employees from their truck plants.

Going with the flat looking front end with the two teir clear headlights, GM did it too. Ford came out with it and now it’s the new norm. Trust me i don’t like ford but when the came out with their new pickup it’s lke everyone started going with their styling quirks.

Wait a minute… $30,000+ for a truck? Are they totally out of their minds? I realise that none of them will ever sell for sticker… but come on. You can have a top-of-the-line Ram or spend just 5k more and get a Corvette. Gimme a break.

Actually, you can pull a boat with a Corvette. I’ve seen it done, although I would never do it myself. The transmission isn’t meant for that kind of stress, and the brakes would have a very hard time. The boat I saw that was being pulled by a Corvette was a ski boat, and it fit only two people. That was just fine, though, because that’s the same amount of people that happened to be in the Corvette.

But just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD. A truck is meant for hauling and pulling, and a Corvette is not. If you buy a boat, make sure you budget for a truck. Otherwise, you’ll wreck your car, and fixing it won’t be cheap.

Malibu Boats makes a Corvette boat. It’s pretty cool looking, and they even have a Z06 model. I just thought I’d share.
