2010 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty [Spied]

Although the 2009 Dodge Ram has yet to hit the market, we have proof that the boys over at Dodge are already working hard on the 2010 Ram Heavy Duty. We have yet to hear what engine lies beneath the hood of this behemoth, but we can guarantee it will churn out more power than the regular duty’s top HEMI powerplant — especially when equipped with a Cummins-sourced diesel.

Photographed just an hour ago, these are the first pictures of the new, bold and macho Ram. Even under camouflage, one can tell that this is no ordinary Dodge Ram!

The HD version of the Ram will likely take most of its styling cues from the more pedestrian ‘09 Ram, but will surely have some muscular flair to it. This prototype also indicates that Dodge will offer its extra long Mega Cab on the new truck.

Officially, the new heavy duty entry from Dodge will likely break cover in January at the NAIAS in Detroit.

I saw a camoflaged car on the road today. It wasn’t this one, but it was an SUV or truck or something like that. It was pulling a trailer between St. George, UT and Las Vegas, NV. I saw it once right out of St. George, and then I saw it again pulling out of the Valley of Fire Smoke Shop. I didn’t get any pictures of it, as both times I was driving, but it was really cool to see that and know what was going on. I tried to show my daughter, but she couldn’t see it very well. Still, that was pretty neat. I just thought I’d share.

^ ^ ^ that’s right, golf4me…. they are going bankrupted!! I read about it. This is what happens when Chrysler has full lineup of trucks/SUVs!!

Now, knock this crap off please, Chrysler and kill this program right now.
Design and produce more new wide varieties of I-4 engines with base, turbo, and whatever!!! Why can’t the Liberty and Dakota have one? Mariner, Escape and Ranger have it and they are selling well.

I know it cuz I dont have my Volvo anymore. Im leasing a new Mercury Mariner with I-4 and im averaging 24.7 mpg per message center! Drive smoothly and slow, people!

Heavy Duty? I dont understand why Dodge produces trucks anymore. Seriously, can you tell me one thing they do right? Can someone name a class leader in there whole line up. Chrysler should be ashamed to call themself an automobile company. Dodge Toyota Honda should join forces and name there new truck worst on the planet. Have fun eating Fords dust one again. How many years #1? thats right 31. Good luck beating that record

S-60-driver: I find it ironic that most of the good folks driving smooth and slow (in the right lane, of course) are generally those in the fuel efficient vehicles. I see more full size trucks, SUVs and 18 wheelers for that matter, drafting off each other like the lead pack at Daytona. I guess the company must be paying for the gas.

If Chrysler is indeed going bankrupt- and without bringing Daimler into the equation- I say the trip into the abyss started started with the 2nd generation Neon. Why was there no coupe or refined dohc engine? It was slower, heavier and looked like the back end was on stilts. The opportunity to build on the ground breaking first generation was missed and everything in the lineup just got fatter from there.

yea, johnnycanuck, Chrysler was good with the Neon, Plymouth Breeze and cars like that, but when gas was very cheap at that moment, they lost their focus and bet on the trucks from there. Shame shame shame…..

Yes, too many morons driving like a dumbass like gas is at $1.59. Geez! I pay 40-45 every thursday and it filled up my new Mariner. I dont like wasting money and thats why i dont drive fast. I drive at the speed limit or few mph over, but i get there slower than other drivers.
What is it gonna take for those morons to “get it” and start watching their speed and etc? $5/gal or what?
They are too embarassed to make changes and act like they can afford everything. Pffft, stupid…

Morons, the lot of you. Quit acting like pickup trucks aren’t needed by anybody anymore, and quit acting like you know how the automotive design and engineering process works, especially now that it’s painfully obvious that you don’t. You know what’s really a waste of money? Developing a brand-new vehicle, and then killing it in the 11th hour because “ZOMG TURCK SAILS IS GONNA FALL TO ZERO OH NOEZZZ!!!!!!!11″ You know the people who don’t want trucks right now? They’re better off with cars to begin with. Those who need trucks will still buy trucks — and there are still plenty of those people. What the market is doing right now is shedding the people who don’t need trucks. They’re going back to cars where they belong. But if you remember, even before the truck and SUV craze of the ’90s and the early part of this decade, the market for pickup trucks was still a pretty good size. Proof: the Ford F-Series began its “best-selling VEHICLE in America” run back in 1983, long before trucks and SUVs became fashion statements. Sure, Dodge might not sell 300,000 or 350,000 Rams anymore, but 200,000 is still a lot of Rams — and considering Dodge’s new trucks are shaping up to be best-in-class, don’t be surprised if their share of the full-size pickup market grows.

johnnycanuck, accurate observation. Here is a tip for you: if you see flying asshole in 18wheeler or just large truck flying, tail him. You get a lot of mileage out of drifting in his wake. Your mileage increases dramatically when there is little or no wind resistance. In a car you can stop much faster then he can. Plus guess whom cops gonna see first, but bustards usually know where the cops are, so it is safe to tail them.

BTW, how anyone would know if Chrysler go bankrupt: they are privately held company and I doubt that anyone posting here has any access whatsoever to Fienberg and Snow, so how one would know?

For the morons on here that believe American companies suck, all Americans that don’t purchase Acura’s and BMW’s are rednecks and for those who would rather praise all things Asian let me educate you. HD or Heavy Duty is used on trucks that are made to pull horse trailers, RV’s, Construction equipment, classic cars or whatever else something big and brawny can handle.
ihustle, this is no longer a world of Ford versus Chevy. A real American supporter supports all U.S. based companies so that one day our kids and grandkids will have a choice of who they work for other then a European or Asain company.
Anhueser Busch is now under a possible hostile takeover. How ridiculous.

Yeah, the neon was so great, they ditched the nameplate into oblivion for the caliber.

Had something to do with the fact that the neon was the worst made car from 1995 to when it ended. Great, a base neon cost around $8k new in 1995. Now how many 1st gen neons do you see on the road? If you do, pity that fool.

S-60 Driver, that’s funny how you are only getting 24.7 mpg and my 7000+ lb Ram with a diesel is getting 22-23 mpg average (hand calculated, don’t trust the overhead). And I can tow 15,000 lbs and still average 16+. Let’s see your Mariner do that. And I need my truck to haul horses. Can’t do that with a Neon. Guess I’ll stick to my truck.

Ihustle. Apparently you’re ignorance is showing. Pull your skirt down. Ford may sell the most HD trucks in the states but that doesn’t mean that they’ll run over 20,000 miles without major repair work. How many times in the last 8 years have they redesigned the Power Stroke? 7.3, 6.0, 6.4? And how many problems did they have with the 6.0 with blown head gaskets, intercooler boots, etc.? And the new one, the 6.4, with the flame thrower option, blown turbos, oil leaks, etc. I’ll stick to my tried and true Cummins, thank you very much.
