me too, i worked on one last week and it was gorgeous, and what i spent on my 4 year old Silverado SS a year ago could have got me a brand new 2008 loaded Sierra with a 5.3 with all the damn incentives.

How does the Ram not compete well in its segment? We’re talking about a vehicles that’s been either the third or fourth best selling vehicle in America for a number of years now. If Chrysler does anything right – it’s their trucks.

This truck will be interesting for 2 reasons. The first truck (since ’69-’72 Chevy) with coil spring rear suspension. The tool cabinet bed is an idea thats been around for 30 years but never seems to make into production rigs.
Trucks have come along way starting with 2000 Chevys adding rear discs and tow-mode std. Every new truck intro since then has added something new to the competition forcing all other players to react.

I don’t see what makes this truck any different from a SLT Ram with the Hemi and a towing package… I see tons of them on the road every day and they aren’t anywhere near fast. Some of the local rednecks even take ‘em to the track and try to act all hot-shyte… then they run a 15 second quarter mile.

Chrysle please take a leaf out of Ford’s & GM book. At least produce vehicles that can compete in their segment (Except the minivan) before you start looking at high performance. Get your heads in the right place before you die a slow death. You need vehicles that will sell volume to save the company!!!!!

howsmydriving, this one is definitely for schmucks: I cant see it being used for hauling dry walls. If someone spends 50 large on this vs. good handling car with much, much better mileage, ergonomics, handling, performance; mother nature was not kind to the whole family tree.

At one of my local Chrysler stores they’ve got two SRT-10s that have been languishing on the lot since last spring. Oddly enough the same dealer also has a used SVT Lightning that’s starting to collect mold as well. Our gas is already over the equivalent of $5 US per gallon. I’m sure they’ll eventually move these units, but probably at a loss. If this is any kind of a barometer, I can’t see dealers willingly clearing out much space for this new R/T.

I just don’t like how trucks nowadays look all jacked up and overly huge, and those are the 2WD models. I like the look of this truck, but I wish they had the stance of the trucks from the 80′s and early to mid 90′s. I love the way a mid 80′s squarebodied Chevrolet 1/2 ton, short bed, 2wd looks.

This is not for the mass appeal, mass market 4 cylinder 4 door mass transit girls. This is another niche product. And there will always be niche market vehicles. This will sell about where they think it will – maybe a little better. Ford is going to be pleased with their Raptor market too.

Actually looks pretty good. That’s a good start on 0-60 time. Then Mopar can kick in. With a new Lightning/Raptor and maybe an SS Chevy the truck guys can have some fun at the track. Choke on that you weinee greenies.
