Late last week, a published report indicated that Dodge Challenger Concept was on track for production as a 2008.5 model. A source at supplier Collins & Aikman reportedly told NewAgeMuscleCars that the company was already working on engineering certain components of the car on behalf of Dodge. Not true, says Chrysler’s outspoken PR man Jason Vines. In a conversation with Edmunds, Vines said, “they don’t know what they are talking about,” regarding the supplier report. Vines said Chrysler has gone to suppliers to get cost estimates, but that doesn’t mean the project has been approved. He said Chrysler is still working on the business case, but a decision will come before the end of the year.

It shouldn’t even be in question. They NEED to build it, because if they don’t…many Dodge loyalists, including me, are going to lose faith in them and search elsewhere(other brands) for their next vehicle.

It’s interesting that the american made cars are pricing themselves out of reach of the average american consumer. Profit oriented companies will do this to everyone because the few greedy shareholders define how a company must grow so that the few shareholders can pocket more and more cash. The profits are a substantial chunk of the american auto industry, driving up the costs, and also the cost of raw materials priced out to suppliers who turn the raw material magically into something are also caught under the profit mongering people at the top. It’s no wonder the american auto industry is dying. Profiteering drives up costs all around, and labourers cannot even buy the products and cars they are involved in assembling. Remember one fact, anything above $15 per barrel in the oil industry is PURE PROFIT. It is putting fabrics and interiors and electronics businesses out of business within the american automotive industry. The rich few get richer, and the middle class are getting caught in a bind where they become lower class than they were before. If the auto industry continues to drive up profits, who in america can afford to buy an american car?. I currently own 3 american made cars, all still going strong, 1995 Mustang GT, 1989 Mustang LX hatchback, and a 1996 Chevrolet Caprice. With the current pricing of cars, I have not bought anything since the 1996 Chevrolet Caprice. I refuse to put money into foreign sheetmetal(foreign cars). I looked at the cost of ownership and it’s massively overpriced when something goes wrong. American cars, american parts off the shelf here are cheap, because they are HERE!. I have seen places like NAPA, PEP Boys, and other suppliers sell “made in china” knockoffs, I have personally unknowingly found out about the chinese parts when I almost got into an accident in my chevrolet caprice because the chinese parts were substandard and broke like twigs (suspension parts, bolts, etc.). Make sure you don’t get ripped at the parts suppliers.
