this is 1 mean car. but they need to look at mpg again! and look at other cars like a m3 Rs4 etc to see how there auto box’s work and the handling.

If gas was cheaper, or if I was rich, I’d be driving a Challenger, or Camaro and not give a **** about gas or what anyone else thinks. It’s the sheer thrill that a car delivers that matters to me. Exactly why a good buddy of mine hasn’t tried to get rid of his 05 GTO. Sure the $4.50 price for premium is probably raping him. But there’s two type of drivers out there. The ones that just need to get from point A to point B and that’s all that matters to them, And then there’s the people that don’t care if they get from point A to point B as long as they’re having a hell of a time enjoying it. What kind of driver are you?

Let me answer your issue on what do Americans want.

They want cars that they can rely on, have good styling and with gas prices these days a good MPG. That is fact look at the news and the polls to see this. NOW with markets coming on line China and India you must look at the global implications of how much fuel we are using. The funny thing is that I want Americans cars to be on top again because that is good for the domestic market. However, the big three need to be at the forefront of technology not following what others in the industry are doing. If you were a true Auto enthusiast you would know that and that is the way it used to be. Now the point that I am making with all this is that we can’t be STUPID, with the current market you can’t just throw all that power out there without better MPG (these are the facts for the basic market not segmented) I don’t care who or what is the reason for High OIL prices that fact is MOLLY they are high and going higher. As for being a junior marketing Guru…a simple understanding of economics and supply and demand should cover that. Maybe Molly you should pick up a book and read about it. We as Americans can be on Top again but we have to be forward thinkers and know that we can’t survive on oil forever. (There is other technology that will produce horsepower I am all for High Horse power and Detroit Muscle (hey that is American culture) but we need a different way to make it happen. That is what I was trying to say Molly Hope that clears it up a little for you and if it doesn’t go to college and learn a little something because being educated instead of stupid never hurt anyone…..

There’s what, 6 references so far to “it’ll never sell” and “its not what americans want”, but yet this run completely sold out in a few weeks? With almost twice as many preorder requests as they had units available? Looks to me like enough people liked it…
Credit Dodge for making enough of these performance versions to satisfy those of us who couldn’t give a rat’s ass about its fuel economy, and then making a poser version for those who do.

automatics and high gas probably isnt an issue for collectors who bought this first run. if this were a lambo (for 6 times the money and gets less mpg) would people here be saying, “good luck with the gas”? dip**** Domestic bashers. and before anyone says it im not comparing lambo’s with dodge, its in a collectors POV. who else can pay 50-60K for a dodge that has a sticker price of 32K. AND as far as gas, the challenger program was probably well on its way before gas really got bad. at least they followed through with it unlike the second guessing occuring at Ford and GM (GM-finally).its funny coz alot of people complain about ‘Why doesnt Ford have a RWD and GM too. But when they come out and make one people retact and say ’studid American V8s’?! if you dont like it thats cool but its still a hell of a car and i cant wait for my R/T. im probably gonna pee in my pants when one of these pass me up on the road.

Why is it whenever LLN posts about a japanese or euro sports/supercar everyone says how cool it is and the power is awesome etc. But when an American company does it everyone starts using the price of gas to cut the car down. johnnycanuck, in retrospect ‘64 1/2 Mustang is 20-30% pricier then ‘65 on antiquity circuit. I guess it does matter for collector. But cars are getting long in the tooth with long development cycles. Remember development started under M-B auspices.

Shouldn’t these things be a 2009 model? We are already well into 2008, and all new cars sold now are 2009 models. Already these Dodge’s are a bit outdated. I look forward to the new 2008 Camaro when it finally comes out in 2010!
