ha ha ha,those canyons and colorados that gm call trucks are an embarrassment.they can’t carry as much weight as the trucks they replaced,have gutless 5 cylinder engines,and only 4 speed automatics,and the styling and undersized interior is a joke.toyota,nissan,and especially the dakota pretty much have them beat in every category…..and other trucks can’t compete with gm?….somebody lives under a rock…..

hey anonymous, i think the stats show that 800 series gm trucks are pieces of ****, with ugly ass interiors and exteriors. dodge and ford know how to get stuff done right (or close to it), and thats why they are facing slightly smaller problems than gm. all three american automakers need to get their asses in gear.

anyway, i think supercharging a nitro would be a fun option… natural aspiration is best when you can get it, but i don’t see any v6s having enough horsepower to pull off an srt job without s/c or t/c.

I had to pull the engine on a friends 99 s-10 to change the starter… what is your point? Well, had to undo the mm’s, hook up the hoist, and lift the motor 3 inches to clear the cradle.

Glad to see you took a thread about the possibility of an SRT6 Nitro and the return of the Ram SRT10 (next gen ram, circa ‘08/’09) to a post about a dodge ram transmission.

what does a ram 1500 have to do with the nitro?
what does a ram 1500 have to do with the SRT10?

my friend has a 03 Hemi Ram Quad-Cab and the dash board creaks and groans like my 13yr old jetta did with 175,000miles on it. At 25,000 miles the Ram’s transmission literally fell apart. driving on the highway…there was a *clink* noise…as if someone dropped a penny in a coffee can…then it sound as though someone dropped a pillow sack full of pennies into a coffee can! it was cover under warranty but its still scary.

^ if they’re not breaking down, pieces are falling off. I had an ‘03 Dodge Ram Hemi Quad Cab and I loved that truck! Just sucked to much gas for my commute. It was solid too.

The Nitro seems to be a pretty slick model. Dodge has needed a smaller SUV to complement the Durango. Since the Nitro will be on an extended version of the Liberty platform, more stability may be achieved. Though, it was obvious that the Nitro would not be getting the Hemi V8 engine for an SRT model, a turbocharge V6 may be the likely option. If you look at what was done to the Magnum for the SRT version, expect the same for the Nitro SRT. We know the R/T will get the 4.0L V6…why can’t the 6cyl be s/c or t/c to get the additional boost for the SRT version?

QUITE PERSONALLY I THINK THE NITRO IS A COOL ADDITION TO THE EXPANDING DODGE LINEUP. THE ONLY NON-JEEP VEHICLE TO USE A JEEP PLATFORM. STYLING IS A LITTLE EXTREME. AN SRT VERSION WOULD BE AWESOME BUT HOW THE HELL CAN YOU EXTREMLY STYLE THIS WHEN IT ALREADY LOOKS LIKE THAT? DO IT. THEY SRT-ED EVERYTHING ELSE….

my mom owned a Liberty for less then 8mon…biggest POS i have ever driver. anything over 65mph feels like a kamikaze run, on the highway the steering was very disconnected/floaty. and forget about turning. i 3 wheeled it avoiding a groundhog at 25mph. that day i went home told my dad and that weekend we went out and came home with a VW Touareg. it has been problem free and is a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better vehicle. After that experience I will avoid any DC products and in no way condone any form of performance version of either the liberty or the nitro. I have to share the road with these vehicles.

the Nitro is an updated and lengthened Liberty platform.

I absolutely would not rule out the possibility of an SRT6 Nitro… we know that they are already working on an SRT6 engine for the S/S (I gues now its A/S) twins.

What an ugly cheapass lineup from Dodge. What the hell is a Nitro anyways. Can’t wait till the GM resurgence destroys Chrysler and the rest of the Auto Industry once and for all
