Dodge unveils 2019 Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320

Dodge\'s new strip warrior borrows from several of its stablemates.

Attendees of the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals Powered by Mopar get a special treat this weekend as Dodge is unveiling its 2019 Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320--a car built around the singular purpose of getting as much as possible out of the 6.4L SRT-engineered Hemi V8 under the hood.

The Scat Pack 1320 borrows something from just about every Challenger variant one may lust after, including the Demon, the Hellcat, the SRT 392 and the R/T Scat Pack on which it is based. From the Demon, the Scat Pack 1320 borrows a handful of strip-specific features. Most notably, the standard eight-speed automatic gets the Demon's TransBrake and line lock features, the former allowing drivers to build power before launching and the latter making it easier to heat up the tires before a run.

Not that they'll need much, according to Dodge. The Scat Pack 1320 comes with a set of spanking-new Nexen SUR4G Drag Spec tires in 275/40R20, specially developed just for the strip. The company says they require only minimal burnout prep for optimum launch grip.

Like the Demon, the Scat Pack 1320 also comes standard without a front passenger seat or rear seat, which drops 114 pounds from its curb weight. Each is available as a $1 option. Trickling down from the Hellcat are the Scat Pack 1320's "air catcher" front headlamps, though in place of the angry kitten logo, you'll find the "Angry Bee," Dodge's latest interpretation of the Scat Pack logo.

And finally, the Scat Pack. Since the 1320 is based on this car, it's no surprise that they have the most in common. Aside from what was mentioned above, not much has changed, including the stock horsepower and torque figures (485 horsepower, 475 lb-ft. of torque).

Dodge says it's the "...fastest naturally aspirated, street-legal muscle car available," touting its showroom-stock 1/4-mile E.T. of 11.7 seconds at 115 miles per hour.

The Scat Pack 1320 joins the new Scat Pack Widebody and Hellcat Redeye as the cream of the 2019 Challenger crop. Look for it on dealer lots next spring, with order banks opening this fall.
