Honda ’s luxury Acura brand has taken some major steps forward over the last few years, culminating in the brand’s three new models – the TSX, TL and RL. All three now offer plenty of performance and enough techno wizardry to keep even the most techno-savvy buyers busy for weeks. But, according to many buyers and critics, there still is a major weakness in Acura’s new armor: Its less-than-appealing “Shield” front grille.
While there are probably a few out there that like Acura’s new front end styling, it seems like the vast majority of the automotive world isn’t exactly sold on the shield grill styling. For whatever reason, the large silver shield just seems to take away from the rest of the car’s styling.
One Acura dealer apparently shares our sentiment, as pictures have surfaced of Acurazine.com that show one TL in the body shop for a little cosmetic touchup. This particular dealer has painted the silver shield to match the TL’s burgundy paint job. In Leftlane’s collective opinion, the touchup does improve the car’s look and goes a long way to tone down the controversial styling element. But like the TL’s original face, we’re sure even the painted grille won’t gel with the entire automotive nation. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
