Dodge may have killed any hopes of an open-air Challenger, but Florida’s Coach Builders Ltd. is giving the idea of a Challenger convertible new life. As with most custom creations, the drop top Challenger made its debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Although most SEMA creations are one-off customs, Coach Builders’ Challenger drop top is a legitimate package that will be available to any Challenger owner. In fact, the company plans to start offering its Challenger roof-removing services by the middle of November.

The convertible conversion includes the strengthening of the Challenger’s body structure, as well as a power-operated and fully insulated – including rear glass with heat – cloth convertible top. At $16,000 (plus the cost of buying a Challenger), the conversion isn’t cheap, but it’s also about the only way to put a Challenger convertible in your driveway.

Coach Builders is also working on other Challenger accessories, but doesn’t have a firm lists for customers just yet. That being said, the convertible Challenger on stage at SEMA isn’t the base $16,000 conversion. The SEMA edition features a supercharged 560 horsepower 6.1L HEMI V8, along with a sport suspension kit and 22 inch wheels penned by Chip Foose. However, the SEMA car has managed to lose its side decal kit on the way to Vegas.
