Early look: 2007 Honda CR-V

08/21/2006, 12:39 AM

By admin

The first press-issue images of the 2007 Honda CR-V have leaked online. While they’re only low-resolution shots, they provide a good look at the new crossover. The car appears to be the European version of the new CR-V, first previewed with spy shots earlier this summer. The American edition is expected to have a slightly different nose. Gallery after the jump…

A touch stubby in the side profile.

Would have preferred a more squared-off D-pillar to match the contour of the rear.

See…Subaru isn’t the only company who can design an ugly grill.

I think it looks dumpy, especially in the back. And the Acura version looks like an Olds Aurora wagon with a lift kit.

What is going on at Honda design? The new Civic looks like an angry egg, the Accord looks like a 1990 Grand Am from the back. I guess Toyota will end up ruling the world.

Are the Japanese mining their own heritage (some might say – for a change?)

Compare the rear end of this new CR-V with that of a 1974 Honda Civic:

Can’t find a better photo, but the bulge (as I recall it) was pronounced.

Not feelin’ that back window. Are those HIDs? Hope so bc they better do something to compete w/ the New Rav4.

Somebody takeout the blowtorch and cut away the excess metal on the C pillar. Make some straight edges like the way it was supposed to be.

Wow, this is the epitome of bad designs at Honda. The front grill is horrible, the rear end is a bad copy of Volvos, the D pillar is vomit inducing. The whole vehicle is a miss-match of shapes & ideas that flows in the most un-inviting of ways.

well, the main street folks won’t be bothered by what you car enthusiasts feel – they will still buy them because, they don’t know what a Honda should look like but as long as it is a Honda.

btw, Volvo took the rear look from Accord back in the 90s and the light column became their trademark, CRV is trying to grab it back and tries to provoke a fight that “we had it first”!

Just a mess of lines that don’t work.

Unfortunately, “Wayner” is right … they’ll buy it not because of looks but because it’s a Honda.

Looks like Honda has successfully copied the rear end of Volvo’s wagons and Sport Utes…way to go Honda!

It could look like an egg with wheels for all I care, just bring the 2.2 CDTI engine as an option.

Wow! someone close the hood! Restart from scratch Honda or you’re in for a bad run with this LOSER,( I have owned five Hondas in the last 6 years, and this is nothing like what i’ve seen Honda do). What An UGLY BASTARD OF A whatever it is. Did the guys who designed the Jeep Thing come out of retirement and someone gave them some Legos?….The Griswalds wouldn’t be seen in it.

At least Honda didn’t horribly messed up the rear end like Toyota did with the new RAV4. The RAV4, while having a fantastic engine, is a dog to look at — nothing like it’s predecessors.

Honda is getting worse and worse when it comes to good, decent, basic design. What a waste.

well guys, look @ the car… first off its a hona so we know from the start is not a beauty 2 look @… secondly 166 hp sucks. mazda cx7 with 240 nd toyota rav4 with 268 nd they almost get the same epa millege…. but from honda we cab expect , tht u won’t expierence any mechanical diffculities with it… but tht was b4 honda was made in the US… so honda crv will either impress the crowd with the new interior or ppl won’t buy it as much bc nothin new was really modified to the car…

Why so neg. its a honda ,20,000 dollars it will run forever. 166 hp not bad where are you going anyway 55 mph speed limit.faster to the next light maybe big deal.Improved looks over last years a little bigger size.17inch wheels nice.if you want a race car get one this is not that.its what it is .Run forever small suv by honda.thank you honda

This thing is just plain ugly. Butt-ugly.
.
I can actually live with the horrible back end compared to that nose. It is all tucked in like someone soured it with vinegar, and like the RDX it has no base … it just tapers back down from a rather high bumper point, and what is that big empty black zone abouve the front bumper and below the grill? A toothless smile?
.
Plus the front overhang is too long. Makes it look like they used a Honda fit wheelbase and cut costs by not lengthening it. Overal poor design job.
