Looks like the American guy who did the BMW 7 series styling must now be working at Chrysler.

The Jeep is pathetic. What Jeep needs is a version of the Dakota and Ram trucks but more refined like GMC’s are to Chevy trucks, not Subaru wannabe cars.

The form language on that Nassau is prett nice, hopefully it keeps that look in person. Jeep should ditch the dwindling sales of the Commander and replace it with this and replace the Liberty with the Patriot.

I agree with Century24 – the Trailhawk is what the Commander should have looked like. But since it doesn’t, it would be nice if Jeep really built the Trailhawk – as sketched! But don’t get your hopes up. They teased us with the Gladiator concept, and that went nowhere (I am still furious about that). They teased us with a great looking Compass concept, and then built the ugly final product. The new Wranglers are nice, but otherwise Jeep has not followed up on concepts too well. They need to.

interestingly century24 i just rented a commander last weekend and it drove up north. i got positive comments on it most everywhere i stopped (even from the pastor at my relatives church!). im sure it was only a base model but it really surprised me by the attention is drew.
i think the jeep in this illustration is a great direction for jeep to head in

I like both designs, but I think the Jeep design (at least the front end) is what the Commander should of looked like. I know some like the Commander as-is, but as Motor Trend put it, it looks more like the box the Grand Cherokee came in. Too squared off for my tastes, including the headlights.

As for the Chrysler, it just seems like there wouldn’t really be a place for it. I mean, what would you call it? A sedoupe? Joking aside, a four-door, four-seat car just doesn’t seem practical outside of the M-B world. And it would certainly stick out like a sore thumb next to the current, or a modestly reworked, 300 (the Nassau probably wouldn’t see production until at LEAST ‘09 or ‘10…a new 300 should bow before that). My guess is this will stay a concept, and future cars will take design cues from it. It looks sharp! Yeah, the headlights look like the Acadia; but I’d say it’s more like Camry meets Edge.

Doesn’t the CLS use the E-class underpinnings? Just like the 300?

As far as the Nassau goes, the body shape appears too derivitive of Acura, though it does look good. But I wonder, does DCX even know what a Chrysler should look like?

autonutt, i totally agree that the platform switch up you suggest would catapult chrysler years ahead in sophistication but i dont think they are even considering such a plan. and isn’t the nassau (at least in concept form) a rwd car? the article above wrote that it is “effectively a counterpart to sister brand Mercedes’ CLS-Class four-door coupe” implying the same underpinnings. what a tragedy if they are planning a fwd. with regards to the headlight issue i agree that the lens shape is similar to the acadia but i doubt that the lamps themselves or even their lighted appearances would have anything in common. who knows. we’ve only seen a sketch. good comments tho

psiclone.. while I am all for Chrysler evolving their current styling forward, that headlight shape is clearly divergent from the rest of the line and looks very much like the new Acadia and even the new Honda CR-V! My worry is that this new 4-door coupe will be built off the Sebring platform, when what Chrysler needs is to build it on the CLS platform instead! And while they are at it, migrate the Pacifica to the R-class platform, the Grand Cherokee to the M-class and the Commander to the G-class — more likely, since these vehicles are all built in the US!

really? i think they both exhibit proper evolutionary design directions for their brands. the chrysler has a strong and recognizable front end (specifically the grill) without mirroring the 300. and while i don’t fully understand this new ‘coupe’ designation on 4-door vehicles they sure look attractive. the jeep appears to have a modernized look with needed refinement in the design – and if the news about the vehicle’s position in jeep’s lineup is accurate what is there to dislike at this point?
