Later this month, Ford is expected to unveil its next-generation Mondeo at the Paris Motor Show. Recent rumors have suggested a concept version of the vehicle will be shown, rather than a production model. Some magazine scans have surfaced online showing what appears to be the concept vehicle. It’s not known if a sedan will also be previewed. Gallery after the jump…

Looks like a Mazda variant to a Fairlane concept aka a new MPV or akin to the CX-9 (see the D-pillar for very similar looks). It’s hard to tell the scale/height of the car to see if this is a tall station wagon or actually a crossover/mini-van alternative.
It’s interesting that there’s more merging of Mazda design into Ford Europe vehicles and Ford USA is growing more and more independent in style from others.

The Mondeo is a saloon/sedan car, the stylish version of our craptastic Taurus. That’s just the wagon version so nothing too interesting. I’ll get excited when I see the sedan pics.

Nice, but derivative, lines. I see elements from the Iosis concept car, the Mazda CX-7, and the Subaru B9 Tribeca.
I wish Ford would begin to treat the US market as their #1 priority and give us the best of what they can produce. The new Mustang is nice, but it’s very retro. The new Fusion is OK, but it’s a reskinned Mazda 6. And the 500 is OK, but it’s a reskinned Volvo that looks like a not-very-successful Volkswagen Passat wannabe. And the Focus was ugly when it was new in ‘01; now it’s ugly AND old. Come on Ford—you’re an American car company; give the people who made you successful the best you can muster.

And of course, the USA will never see it.

Maybe the new management at Ford will wise up.

And people honestly think it will end up looking like that, Ii think not – i have read a lot of comment’a by the US guys, trust me we would rather thave your style of cars fords included than the ( i wont denegrade the quiality becasue fords are very good, and many coloumn inches dedictated in the press so dont rip into me, and have thus been compared in quaility to BMW – ride handeling etc )however the ford Uk range is bland and un assuming.
Do the Americans have a version of mondeo man ( lol )

It’ll never make it as a Ford here in the States. Ford got burned with the Contour/Mystique and won’t repeat that mistake again. Although I have and still think let Ford in America go the American style route. But when it comes to Mercury it’s time to stop being just a fancy American Ford and be something different by being rebadged European and Japanese Ford cars. If this works for Saturn and it’s rebadged Opel’s I’m hoping Mercury will follow. The European Focus is so much better then the US Focus. It’s the only way to save Mercury

Scott Kempton – One thing you missed out – it is also a hatchback – primarily so in the UK – it started out as such with roots in the sierra (hatch) and sapphire (saloon/sedan) legacy.
In fact, the reviewers say the hatch is better than the saloon in the current line up of the Mondeo. Also, the estate (wagon) models are quite good, but it seems they will only get better
