Volvos are for accountants and Swedish elementary school teachers.

This concept rocks. Build it, bring it here, sell it for a reasonable sum of money.

I wonder what the price will be like for this thing...for 40k or less I'd use it as my daily driver and just put on a friggin helmet.

As for the car somehow sucking just because a Hummer can run it over, what a stupid ass point to try and make. The H1 could physically crush anything on the road up to the size of an F150, but you don't see people not buying cars because of it. The H2 and H3 are sissy-mobiles. Besides, a Hummer would have to catch this thing to run over it, which is quite unlikely to happen seeing as Hummers are slow as shit.

Not to mention that the same oh-an-SUV-or-pickup-could-run-over-it -boo-hoo thing could be said for countless motorcycles, small sports cars such as porsches and ferraris etc that are on the road.

Anyhow, the point of cars like this is to offer the most exhilerating driving experience possible - no frills fast and fun. I'd take it in a hearbeat, you might not. To each their own.

If this car's as light as an Elise and packs a 2.0T FSI engine it will be a friggin monster. And that's before you consider all of the off-the-shelf power upgrades availble for the 2.0T.

One of these and a FIT or something similar for the rest of the time. What else could an enthusiast possible want?

I would consider this a car entirely. The shelby Cobra, no top, pocket rocket, and alot less gadgets than this car will have. A Hummer or any vehicle that size will decimate most cars, like Miatas, and no one complains about those 2 seaters. So this car doesn't have swinging doors, so what. I look at this and think of the original california dune buggy that came out in the 60s or so. It was huge! This has alot of potential.

meanpants555 -- " If it's based on Audi parts, does this mean it will become unreliable after 80,000 miles?"

Yes.

But, if you can put 80,000 miles in an X-Bow, you will probably fall apart first.

Yea, KTM makes killer motorcycles.
These projects are worthwhile because manufacturers always learn something from them. Also, it is good practice to colaborate with other companies. They may develope a more main stream product together in the future. Brilliant idea for both companies in this respect.
If you ask me, Audi really could use some of the flair that KTM has in spades. This is one way to learn it.

S-60, people don't want to hear or read about volvo cars because it is never exciting news IMO, yeah they have the R series added to a few of the cars, big whoop. Exciting news is learning a company is coming out with a really fast almost not street legal (probably is in US), racecar for the road.

S-60, in a way you're right, at least if you regard the X-Bow as being a car. But as far as I'm concerned it's not. If you think of it interms of being a toy, it's going to be extremely fun and pretty awesome!

And eating bugs will be the least of your problems.

This would be sick if they did this the same way Tiger Racing did their seven. Two engines one for each axel and a zero to 60 time of 2.0 so good. Not to mention if they kept the platform it would handle just as well. Oh well I geuss one can dream.

All the way from existing kit vehicles to the current major car companies this is rapidly becoming a serious category of vehicle that will more than fill a niche. KTM is a heavily laden brainpower group who comes up with very exciting views and implementation of existing and future technologies.

its my choice to have that kind of car. So what? I rather not pay high premium insurance for a R-type. Plus, a true enthusiast would not say "turbo-4" which S-60 DO NOT have. They have 5 cyclinder engines.

Can we stick to the topic? Im not gonna talk about my car or anything like that for future topics.

Renton, i know, i can't list 100+ cars on here. Too many.

If a car enthusiast wants something fast and flat cornering like that KTM Audi X-Bow above, they can get a STi, Evo, or whatever something similar.

I totally want to have a RWD car. I'm all for it. It snows a lot during winter, so i rather not drive a RWD car for now.

The X-Bow looks like a millionare or NASCAR or F1 driver would own in his garage. Or for those sissies who are afraid to ride a real motorcycle!!

KTM motorcycles rock.

This thing will be great, a pure sports machine.

S-60-driver - Real car enthusiasts are more open minded than just cars that have FWD and FWD basedAWD. None of the cars you listed are bad, but there is more to life than those.

Most of the real car enthusiast prefer RWD only. In a mid-engine even better.

Most likely, none of the cars you listed would be able to hang with this KTM in any track or back road.

Check this out on the Ariel Atom, and you will see what this KTM was probably designed to surpass.

im so psyched for this thing, its too bad it doesnt have an audi badge on it though like it was originally planned, it would sell alot better, be better marketed and recognized, and give us something to subdue our anger about the slaughtering of the GX3.

Just have a SUV or Hummer run over it and one of the tires will knock ur head off!! And, no windshield. You'll eat all the bugs and will never have to eat lunch or dinner every day!

I'm a car enthusiast. That one is a joke. I wouldn't buy it if i make millions. Real car enthusists will buy Evo, STi, Mazadaspeed 6, etc.

I would pick this up in a heart beat. Now for all the nay-sayers, what's the difference between this and a motorcycle?... besides being a bit safer to drive? THIS type of vehicle is my answer to smaller, less gas consuming vehicles. Not batteries. A full suze SUV or sedan with batteries is having your cake and eating your cupcakes too. Drive a smaller vehicle to save gas! And while I'm at it, the thing might as well be fun. It doesn't have to be painful and you don't have to feel like you are giving something up for lent in order to drive a more eco-freindly car.

Ford tried this type of concept, forget what it was called. Basically dropped it due to fear of litigation in spite of the fact motorcycles are alive and well, and legal. With that said, it will be a miracle if this thing makes it to North America.

Are they gonna make a roof-ed version of this car? I'm serious. I thought this was suppose to compete with the Elise, and not the Ariel atom.

Anyways, sweet looking car. The front reminds me of a frog, but I think the car will look much better than the artist's illustration.

Wrap it in more bodywork and you have an Audi Elise-alike. Mount the V8 from the RS4 midship and transverse and you have a rocketship. Would that be dumb?... ;)
