Low slung roof lines and/or high “belt lines” are not the sole domain of DCX. It has been a common theme through out he American 1960s and 1970s. It works on most cars meant to look tough, powerful, speedy, and just cool. MKR (Mark-R I DO NOT care what FOMOCO execs say it should be said), is the third no brainer so far, this year. They only when through with one so far, ditching mini-vans.

If Ford builds this one,it’ll go light-years toward getting Lincoln back to respectability.

As for pushy car dealers. FOMOCO needs to set some basic standards. Maybe some corporately owned dealerships to set and enforce standards for professionalism, car maintenance, customer care.

I like it and all, but it shouts 300 with the roofline and the window profile. Also as much as i like the rear of the car, I again notice elemets and proportions similar the the Chrysler.

I think this is a beautiful car. But, as with many of you, I’m afraid Ford/Lincoln won’t actually produce it. If they do anything, they’ll use “styling cues” from it as a basis for another boring car. I hope Ford has learned a lesson from Chrysler, and even GM, that building production cars that are identical, or nearly identical, to the concept version, is the only was to get people interested in them.

And BTW—is it just me, or does the woodgrain on the interior look suspiciously like Contact paper?

The “Standard of the World” adline was for Cadillac, not Lincoln.

Lincoln’s adline was: “Lincoln….What a Luxury Car Should Be….” until those executive know-nothings at Ford lost their direction and assumed that they knew the Lincoln Brand. It’s not too late for Lincoln, although they are in the 11th inning of this particular ballgame, to hit a home run, and with a little tweaking and a name change, the MKR could be the one.

If they made the grille it about half it’s current height, it would be better proportioned. The rest of the exterior is great, especially the Lincoln-logo moonroof. Best of all, finally a concept car without Altezza taillights!

The interior reminds me of the “future-tastic” designs from the late 60’s and 70’s. Does it come with a quadraphonic stereo? Somewhat out of place in a luxury car, unless it includes a swingin’ minibar in the center console…

As far a letter-soup naming, count me out. ‘Zephyr’ was a perfectly good name until they dropped it for ‘MKZ’. I say ‘MKR’ = ‘Continental’! And while they’re at it, bring back the “Standard of the World” adline. Lincoln needs to get back to its big, ballsy, unabashedly American roots.

Yikes! It’s as buck-toothed as Bugs Bunny but with nasty, beady little eyes. It looks like it belongs in a Stephen King movie.

BTW – does anyone else think the name “MKR” is suspiciously similar to “Merkur” ??

It’s got some highlights, that engine, the profile. It’s not a bad looking ride, but I agree the grill/nose doesn’t work for me. I do like the ass-end of the thing. I see the evolution of the ’90’s Mark VIII rear, with the body-wide tail light bar, and center emblem. And how about those snazzy hand cut Linoln Tires??? Glad to see it, but I wish lincoln could come up with a better vehicle name. I’m tired of Alphebet soup when it comes to car names.

Don’t forget that Lincoln dealers SUCK!!!!! They are stuck in the 1970’s.
Lincoln dealers = high pressure, low respect, questionable service department, and poorly trained sales people.

THIS IS NOT WHAT PEOPLE WANT IN A LUXURY PRODUCT BUYING EXPERIANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like this better than the Jag, and if they could get the price down below 40k, they’d have something. I think the only thing I’d like to see changed is the grille, it’s just too big and doesn’t need to be, even with a v8. The glass roof won’t make it, and neither will the interior.

The 49 was ****e in my opinion. At the LA AutoShow, Lincolns had easily the worst dash plastics of ANY car on display. Hard, shiny glittery plastic that you would be ashamed to have on your home stereo.
Mark Fields, if you let me bugger you I will tell you how to design a decent car.

Eyes are too small and the grill is way, way too big. Guess they looked at Chrysler when they designed this mess. Throw the idea in the trash and fire the design personnel. Start over, preferably with designers who know what their doing.
