Toyota’s new appliance car is to be called the M1cR0 WaVe. They assure us it’s a hybrid, and comes with the best heater ever seen in a car, ever. Should be a success in Russia and Canada, although they say the want to get more sales from Antarctica.

This car is hideous, but I’ll give props to Toyota for injecting some life into a dead segment. How many CONCEPT minivans do you see, really?

That being said, if it hits the US, it will be driven by some Indian idiot who can’t drive for ****, like all the other Toyota drivers I encounter on a daily basis.

04focus is dead on. This is a preview of what the highly successful Alphard will look like when they release an all new model early next year, just like the RX concept they released at the same time. Of course, idiots in US won’t know what an Alphard is and why it’s the best minivan in the world right now. Do you know that it comes with AWD and driver tunable air suspension?

Was it in accident? We saw a slew of concepts today from Toyota and some from Honda. In all honesty it is very difficult to pick the “winner” here: they all are quite ugly. Is it back to 60’s culture Japanese style? I’d like to sample what they’ve been smoking.

^^^I see what you mean, but this car is just so ugly that even toned down, it will be ugly AND boring. Besides, why don’t they just put in the design cues without the stupid concepts? It would make more suspense bringing up to a car’s unveiling.

Wow, you guys just don’t get it, do you? This is a CONCEPT car. It’s meant to test out various design exercises. The next Sienna will not be this car, though it will feature many of the visual cues. Everything will be toned-down from the concept, but you get the idea. In fact, the next Sienna is already finished. Sometimes I wonder what comes first. Do they design the next production version first, and THEN do an outrageous concept car based off that, or is it the other way around with the designers watering it down for manufacturing?

Same goes for the other concepts being shown in Tokyo. That Lexus concept gave a good glimpse at design cues that will be showing up in the next 3-5 years. That interior may not be as wild as you think. The vents surrounding the steerer column will definately make it to production, as well as the funky sweep surrounding the center console.

Designers are paid to guide the public forward. If they didn’t work on concept vehicles, we’d be stuck with cars like the Ford 500 and Chevy Malibu. I only pick those because they are bland and look like everything else, just like the Camcords.
