Early look: Toyota RiN Concept

Toyota has released images of its RiN Concept ahead of its Tokyo Motor Show debut. Designed for “harmony with nature” and a “healthy mind and body,” the RiN offers several unique features. The RiN’s seats help maintain good back posture and the interior even features a mood-sensing steering control that displays the driver’s psychological state on a display.

According to Toyota, the RiN also has an oxygen-level conditioner and pinpoint humidifier, as well as green glass that reduce UV rays and brightens the surroundings. The RiN also uses headlights with light distribution control designed to lessen their intensity for pedestrian and other motorists.

The Yakusugi tree was used as inspiration for the RiN, as seen by the leaf-shaped gas and brake pedals as well as other organic design cues.

  4. WTF it is? I reckon they have so much money they don’t know what to do with it. Hopefully “concepts” like this will help them loose some of the cash and get back to Earth.

  10. YUK what is this garbage? I know a lot of people smoke weed these days but that does not mean we want this hippy-style green machine. If your immune system is compromised and you cant breathe outside air this is the car for you! A mood sensing steering control that analyzes my psychological state?! So if I’m really pissed it will let me know? Also will the steering become more aggressive when I’m angry or excited so that I can go smashing around all the turns since this thing is such a beast? God forbid I go driving through the forest in this thing, I can only imagine trying to look ahead on a turn through the forest through GREEN glass, oh well at least I will have a nice relaxing death free of harmful UV rays.

    P.S. **** good posture

  19. I applaud Toyota for going to the effort of showing us their future vision but I’d also welcome a future without Toyota in it.

  20. looks like one o them there upmarket shower cubicles, which, given the fact that this is definitely a bird’s ride, might actually be a good thing.

You’ve seen her doing her make up in traffic, now imagine if you could watch her shower on your way to the office.

  21. The design is fresher than most cars out there.

This could finally beat the soap-bar shape out of Ford.

Look GM, a designer did a car !!!! NOT an engineer !!!

  24. well…its a concept…its not going to happen. Like someone said about the green glass…

no company would produce cars with green glass…this just goes with the concept

  25. Stig: Toyota’s presence is necessary for improvement by makers of real cars.

  26. You’re absolutely right, “head-giver”, I’ll love it when your mom finds easy access to complement her easy access.

  27. All automotive presences is necessary for improvement in cars. If one company was alone then they wouldn’t have a reason to make their product better for the fact that they are the only ones. Look at the old days when it was Ford and GM. You go in buy a car and walk out, the car salesperson didn’t do anything for the customer. Thats where the Japan and German companies came in to improve them on it. Look at the old Japanese cars, not really the best cars, but they also learned from the North American companies and improved. Thats what i think

Comment by Ian, posted on October11 at 4:48 pm
  28. Really ?? Old Japanese cars were not the best ???

    Fact:

The old Japanese cars are what killed the Big 3 today, making cars that ran and ran without constant repairs.

People changed their buying habits and the Big 3 didn’t care until now….. too late.
