Photos of Volvo’s forthcoming XC60 Concept have leaked online. The vehicle will be on display at the Detroit auto show in January.
It’s not known how closely the concept vehicle will resemble the production car, but if the Volvo C30 is any indication, the concept and production models will be very similar.
For the time being, details remain sparse and photo quality is poor. Nonetheless, we’re sure Volvo fans will be interested in this early glimpse at what is certain to be a key product for the brand going forward. Gallery after the jump…

That looks pretty slick. Very aggressive and I really like the “floating consoles” that Volvo has. I’d be very surprised if it actually looked that good when it comes out.

They took the Enclave’s Rim concept and applied it to Volvo.
Meanwhile Volvo is doing soo much better than Saab.
This looks like its going to be pretty close to production

Great design, but it’s all going to come down to the pricing…please Volvo, don’t put a $40,000 pricetag on this thing and alienate a large section of the market.

Andre Neves is right. Volvo has always been very progressive when it comes to security and design ( well, more or less ) and furthermore has a history of implementing these features in real life. Maybe not always pretty or something where you’d shout “awesome”, but it’d be a derivative of the concept car we would have seen a couple of years back, as opposed to so many other airy concepts we’ve seen through the years and whose features never seemed to materialize anywhere.

Coming from an VW/Audi fan that isn’t surprising. Would you also want that famous VW reliability to go with your Tiguan? Both the Tiguan and the XC60 are nice, but I think they’ll appeal to different people, the XC is much more conservative (even in concept form). I’m not big on the Q7 so if it’s anything like the Q5/3 then I’ll pass on the Audi.

ya im a vw/audi fan, so what, kiss my ass, ill keep it til the warranty is up and then buy a new one. And the Q5 and Q3 wont be like the Q7. The simple reason the Q7 is odd looking is because of its sheer length, and mildly odd looking tail end. I wont argue that the Allroad is a much better offer and that the US should have it, but the Q5 and Q3 will be awesome.

It’s based on the LR2, which in turn is based on the S80, which in turn is based on the C1 platform (Mazda3, S40, European Focus). 3.2L V6, it will compete with the X3 and will surely be in the upper $30k range.

Can’t quite figure out if the stack is like a monitor or if it is just fixed. If it is video-based then the screen could change based on the command, like a high end home theater remote. The anti-iDrive has arrived!

I’d like to know a little more about that diagram of the vehicle on the top of the center console. Is that possibly a new vehicular monitoring system that Volvo is developing?

I’m overjoyed that it isn’t just a plastic-clad V50.. perhaps Volvo is moving a little too much in the Euro-Ford styling vein, but since we don’t get the Euro Focus or Mondeo in the US, it should make an impact.

I’m surprised after all the comments that no one has mentioned this vehicle’s familial resemblence to the Ford of Europe’s Mondeo X and a beefed up Mondeo wagon.
With that said, I think they are all great looking vehicles and this will most surely be a great evolution of the XC90 on the road today as I see TONS of them all over the place.
Really looking forward to seeing this at NAIAS in Jan. (and although I know the XC90 is an A-Plan Ford employees dream i.e., a great deal and still not driving a Ford. I do see tons of these all over the country during my work travels so it’s not just a myoptic Detroit view).
