VW could be gaining even more market share in this country if it would start importing more diesels! Come on VW get back in the game and pay attention to the fact that the US market is rapidly evolving away from the SUV mindset and WANTS all those wonderful “world” vehicles that have been unavailable here in the US.

The diesels that VW built lately don’t pass US emissions. that’s the only reason there aren’t as wide of a gamut on the US market. They’re everywhere in Europe and are getting up to 60-70 mpg. On top of that they’re cheaper than hybrids and can run off of biodiesel. Gotta love donught grease powered DUBS

The problem is not with American emission standards, but the quality of American diesel fuel. The high sulphur content in American diesel fuel makes it near impossible to reach emission standards and degrades engine components of the more advanced diesel engines much faster than the clean European fuels.
