Although Cadillac ’s first regular North American production wagon just hit showrooms – the CTS wagon – Cadillac fan Elvis Presley was about 30 years ahead of his time. Currently up for sale on eBay is Elvis’ wagon, one of two custom 1972 Cadillac Sedan DeVille station wagons ever built and one of probably hundreds of Cadillacs owned by The King
Showing just 71,000 original miles, The King’s wagon is in entirely original condition and includes its unique 24 carat gold finish emblems, chrome spoke wheels and dark brown vinyl top. Custom assembled for Elvis by ASC in Southgate, Michigan, the Cadillac wagon was one of his treasured possessions up until his 1977 death.

From our research, we learned that Elvis actually gave the car to his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, to keep in Las Vegas. Elvis would use the car in Las Vegas and to drive through the desert to Los Angeles, although Parker got frustrated with tracking the wagon down and told Elvis to take it back to Graceland on what turned out to be a very momentous final drive as his self-induced poor health condition deteriorated. Elvis wrapped up a Las Vegas stand in December 1976 and drove the wagon back to Memphis.

The auction states that the other Sedan DeVille wagon, with its unique swing-out door and custom roof rack, was sold to Dean Martin. That car has apparently been lost, so only Elvis’ remains.

The car reportedly sold on eBay just under five years ago for $29,972, to the Florida Cadillac collector who is said to own it today. Clearly the current owner is looking to cash in on the car’s celebrity status: The Buy-It-Now price is a staggering $149,995.
