Oh, I'm loving my Nissan VQ engine. It's already been rebuilt once in 40k miles due to faulty timing chain glides.
Bring on the EcoBoost! I just hope that in 5 years the forums are full of failed engine/turbo reports....

I've never been much of a Ford fan, but I must give them some well deserved credit. Yes the Mustang is overweight, but so are the Camaro and Challenger. Ford is definitely moving in the right direction with their strides in technology and design. Keep it up Ford, and I may buy American in the short future.

I fully agree with you fully my point is just as yours depending on the Platform The EcoBoost engine produces great power and all around performance. They are going to put it in the Mustang here Stateside. My issue was it's Power, Torque and MPG compared to V8s. Thanks for the facts you presented I love the V8 Super car Races pitting the Ford against the Holden !

From Car and Driver:

Ford Taurus SHO
0-60 5.2
1/4 Mile 13.9
Skidpad .80
Curb Weight 4350
MPG 17/25
Pricing w/ similar options $38,690

Dodge Charger
0-60 5.7
1/4 Mile 14.3
Skidpad .77
Curb Weight 4135
MPG 16/25
Pricing w/ similar options $37,590

Let's face it. The SHO is faster and around the same price with similar options. If Ford dropped this engine in Australia's Falcon, it would run circles around the Charger. The engine doesn't have a torque curve. It's more of a straight line at 350 ft. lbs.

Dr Fill- Really, you didn't know?
That it was supposed to replace the Freestar and Freestyle/Taurus X?
Your become increasing blind every single day!
SO... on what level does it compete with any of those vehicles? Space and dimensions? Nope. Available features and seating arrangements? Nope.
I've told you what it competes with, and now you need to listen!
But if you want to play that game...
You can get a non-ecoboost Ford Flex, which will get you 0-60 only one second slower than the Highlander Sport, but with more space, better equipment and similar fuel economy for the same price!
Also, are you trying to mislead people?
You said 83 cubic feet for the Flex, behind the front passenger seats...
and then went on to compare that to 95 for ALL of the highlander!
I don't know about you, but I don't enjoy lying when I can be right without it.

Nissan had planned to partner with Chrysler to build the next-gen Titan off the current Dodge Ram 1500 platform but those plans were mutually called off in August.

rpmfan,
I'm shocked you got all that, and think I'm a tough guy from my last statement!
You're stupid...along with that AFSOCSARGE moron!

AFSOCSARGE,
So, what facts did I deny? I told you things about that engine, if you don't believe them, you are DUMB! The funny thing is that I'm not the only one one here who has been saying the same thing...but for some reason, you are putting it all against me. I don't care though, keep it coming. It only makes you guys look desperate to be arguing a lame point, even though this is a ford ecoboost sales thread! Like I said, keep it coming with your garbage...maybe you'll stink this place up so much that you'll get banned!

You have "idrinorbarsaku" pegged ! He'll deny facts and reason at all cost, you give him correct numbers and facts and he totally disregards them. He assumes that when he "Believes Something" it makes it true. I have proved his statements wrong over and over again but continues saying the same thing over and over again when he knows he is wrong. He is truly amazing.

How old are you? 13? Real keyboard tough guy, aren't you?

So you care only about you guys? No kidding, but you post constantly just to bash American made cars, specifically GM, and it gets old.

I think all those years in college has only continued to contribute to your maturity, or lack thereof.

Btw, it wasn't advice, it was a suggestion to STFU already!

Oh yea, I would take a Hemi first also.

In my part of the country we would say "You Got Served Brother !"

Hmmm……

Ford lied about the cost of Ecoboost (remember it would only cost $700.00?), and then they lied about the efficiency of the engine. Ford said it would make V8 power with V6 fuel economy. That’s a bold-faced lie.

Hyundai, of all automakers, makes a V8…with more displacement, more power, and more cylinders…and it gets the same mileage as a 3.5 V6 from Ford.

-The Realist

drinorbarsaku The Realist proves my point 100% !!

You are so Wrong !

You have an obvious distaste for American based manufacturers. I have read your posts elsewhere with your explanations to your past issues with GM. Well, guess what, my family has only had GM's too my whole life, and I drive one now. Never had issues with them.

Because of this, I have no issue with buying only GM. Obviously, you're the opposite. But come on already, give it a rest with constant bashing, it is old. We all get it, you don't like American cars.

Ford sold 1200 SHO's last month
About the same as Hyundai Genesis sedans
Let me know when it's time to be impressed

Jay
I didn't know the Ford Flex was a Minivan?
Since you are comparing it to minivans, it must be a minivan
Thanks for the education!

Now for some real knowledge
According to Car&Driver
Ford Flex SEL w/EcoBoost
$40k BASE PRICE
4800+ lbs
0-60 in 6 sec
15 MPG observed
70-0 190 ft
83 cu ft behind 1st row

Mazda CX-9
$31k+ base price
0-60 7.7 sec
18 MPG observed
70-0 173 ft

Toyota Highlander Sport
$30k base price
0-60 in 7 sec
21 MPG observed
70-0 177 ft
95 cu ft space

Highlander Hybrid (tested by Edmund's Inside Line)
$34k+ base price
0-60 in 7.5 sec
24-28.6 MPG observed

Toyota Sienna LImited AWD
$37k+ base price
0-60 7.7 sec
17 MPG
149 cu ft behind 1st row

You want a SHO, another $40k

Moral of the story, anyone spending $40k+ for a Ford
Not a very good shopper
And probably can't spell the word Value

Either alot of people want the Taurus SHO... or not many want the naturally aspirated version of the car. Either way I've still only seen one on the road... I really hope it sells for them.

Hmmm......

Ford lied about the cost of Ecoboost (remember it would only cost $700.00?), and then they lied about the efficiency of the engine. Ford said it would make V8 power with V6 fuel economy. That's a bold-faced lie.

Hyundai, of all automakers, makes a V8...with more displacement, more power, and more cylinders...and it gets the same mileage as a 3.5 V6 from Ford.

Ford really needs to ditch the utter garbage line up it has here in North America and start building good, reliable, quality, desirable cars that people want to buy. I'm talking about the Mondeo, Euro Focus, Kuga, Falcon.

Kuga > Escape
Falcon >>>>>>>>> Taurus
Euro Focus > American pile
Mondeo > Hideous Fusion

My view point? My view point is that a huge 5.7 leader has no business being in this conversation! You wanted fact, I gave them! I will repeat them if you forgot -- smaller displacement with great power, lower weight, efficient, faster than the 5.7, newer design. For the hemi, weighs a ton, not HP efficient for a whopping 5.7 liter, reduces handling because most of the engine weight is over the front wheels.

I still don't get what you are trying to argue!?! Are you arguing about who had the facts now? I think you just don't know when to stop! I don't care what you respond with...I'm done wasting my time talking to you about your stupid hemi engine!

Like I sated I have given you facts and you give me Opinion, you have yet to explain or substantiate your case with any facts. So there you go again with the Name Calling. I ask you for something to support your opinion and you can't , then you start with the name calling. It is you who is coming up short not I,there is no argument because you have nothing to support your view point.

I agree with you 100% so what do you mean ? You are correct the EcoBoost is a beast of and engine, I'm not arguing with you at all. I think the Twin Turbo EcoBoost is one of the best engines Ford has ever produced.

After the Mustang GT comes out with the new more powerful V8, they should drop the turbo 6 in to the Mustang, at least detuned a little not to step on the V8's shoes. I know Ford was mulling it over and it's probably unlikely but it be cool to see a turbo 6 Mustant out there. In doing so the V8 GT would be pushed up market letting the 6 go up against the mighty 370z and having a chance. The current V8 GT really needs to go, too slow as it is.

It is an incredible engine that is why it is being compared I truly think it is a fantastic advancement. My issue is is it's Performance vs it's Fuel economy of other engines it competes against.

The Fact is that Ford it's Self Compares it Performance to European Performance Sedans.

The ecoboost engine is incredible! You can compare it to others and it will still stand out. The fact that people stupid enough to need to compare it to, I don't know, a hemi engine(!) just proves they are pissed off that ford has come out with a great engine. It also proves they have never driven this beast of an engine!

DrFill- Are you splitting hairs here, or just trying to make a fool of yourself?

Ford Flex- Curb weight 4450 ibs, horsepower= 355, 0-60= 6.5 sec
T. Sienna- Curb weight 4300 ibs, horsepower= 277, 0-60= 8 sec
H.Entourage- Curb weight 4400 ibs, horsepower= 250, 0-60= 8.2 sec

The Sienna only beats the horribly outdated and unreliable Entourage by .2 seconds!
And that time probably includes the amount of time it took for mechanics to fix it.
And the Flex with the ecoboost... no, it's not "just competitive", it's better.
Only two comparable vehicles that are slower?
The awd Flex with the 3.5 v6, at 8.8, and the Odyssey at 9 secs.
Fuel economy is only one point worse than the sienna for the ecoboost, with an extra 100 horses btw...

Have fun in your big awesome hemi while you're being blown away by my VQHR and the ecoboost engine next to me with less hp and torque. Again, a shame. You lose! (again and again).

Aggie
What you just said is the most insanely idiotic statement I've ever heard
At no point, in your rambling, incoherent response, did you say anything that could be considered a rational thought
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it
I award you no points
And may God have mercy on your soul!

You know, Fordman makes an excellent point!

Since Ford's are chronically overweight and out of shape, like most of America
Putting a bigger engine into a huge body just makes it competitive
Factor in the extra cost to get a decent engine out of Ford
And you have a poor value

Most companies can give you the same power/economy
With less weight
Less power
And a much lower cost

Not that a typical Ford buyer would sweat such market tenets

These are modest variances
When you run out of powertrains
Like what has happened periodically with Toyota's Prius
Give me a call

If you're spending $40k on a Ford
Call Dr Kevorkian first!

^^ both of you, please shut up.

Sarge - The fuel economy ratings have changed and as of now:

Dodge Charger 5.7L V8: 16/25

Ford Tarus Ecoboost V6: 17/25

5.7 HEMI HP: 368

3.5 Ecoboost: 365

The Ford handles better, but you can take your pick, I don't really care.

Also guys, stop the name calling
