Although 'Gone in 60 Seconds' featured stars like Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie and Robert Duvall, Eleanor, a customized 1967 Ford Mustang fastback, easily stole the spotlight. In fact, Eleanor proved to be so popular following the movie's debut that several companies began build replicas of the car.
The example set to go under the hammer started life as a 289-powered 1967 Mustang fastback, but received an upgraded to a 351 cubic inch V8 Ford crate motor for its role in the movie. The engine was also fitted with a "˜big' camshaft and 700cfm Holley 4-barrelĂ‚Â carburetor.
Other improvements include a coil-over suspension, Willwood disk brakes, side exhaust outlets and, of course, plenty of body modifications.
Just 12 examples of Eleanor were built for the movie - five of which were completely destroyed during filming. Of those seven remaining cars, just two are in private hands, including the example heading of the block on January 14.
Eleanor is expected to fetch as much as Ă‚Â£100,000, or in excess of $150,000.
