Infiniti's EMERG-E concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show will get its first public test drive at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed that kicks off at the end of the month. The electric sports car prototype will be piloted up the hill by F1 driver Mark Webber.

The EMERG-E uses two electric motors, each of which drives a single rear wheel via a single-speed transmission. It uses a three-cylinder gas-burning engine to recharge the batteries when they deplete, and when fully charged, the car promises to reach 60mph from a standstill in just 4.0 seconds, with a 0-130mph run said to take 30 seconds. The motors are rated at 402 horsepower. The maximum battery range is 30 miles, but once the engine fires up, it can extend it to 300.

Reigning F1 Champion Sebastian Vettel will also drive up the Earl of March' driveway at Goodwood in the Infiniti FX Vettel Edition SUV. Just 50 examples of the vehicle will be made, priced at a remarkable £100,800 (about $156,000). Vettel's 2011 Championship-winning Red Bull Racing RB7 F1 car will also be on display at Goodwood.

Infiniti's M35h hybrid sedan will also make daily runs up the hill.

This marks the first time that Infiniti will sponsor the event.
