The latest addition to Ford's crossover lineup, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6-powered Explorer Sport, has been officially rated by the EPA at 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

Those figures are just a single mpg worse than the standard Explorer equipped with a naturally-aspirated V6 and AWD. They also compare favorably with the 13/20 mpg achieved by the HEMI-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango.

While Ford has in the past stated only that the Explorer Sport would produce "at least 350 horsepower," the automaker has now released final output figures: the crossover's EcoBoost V6 will make 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.

Aside from the more powerful engine, the Sport is set apart from other Explorer models by a unique front fascia, black exterior trim and a re-tuned suspension.

The Explorer Sport will arrive in dealerships this fall and carry a base price of $41,545 (including destination).
